WTF are you doing Fragems... go beat FF4-10 right now!

Sadly I can't share any enthusiasm for FF15 right now even beyond the story. I had to force myself to sit down and try to play more and I couldn't do it. Tried twice and was burned out, so it's back on the shelf. The whole thing leaves me completely sour. Trying to get the Ultima Blade at the end (that rare drop you need during a hunt) probably didn't help, but all it did was made me realize how bare bones and weak this game is beyond its great production.

- Just like FF13 you once again have zero control over your party AI. Even less so than FF13 because the gameplay here is even more bare bones. No paradigms or whatever to shift into. All you can do is slap different one use abilities on them. What if I want them to do something more specific or completely lock them into a single role like buffing, defense, etc, or what if I don't even want them to be in a battle? Can't I sit them on the sidelines or have them do nothing, or target ONLY one enemy specifically? It's a clusterfuck of granting you... no control whatsoever.

- Even worse, you only get to play as one main character and cannot switch. Boring.

These two issues alone make me rip my hair out. Yeah it's flashier and faster paced than something like FF12, but at least that game had macros, TONS and tons of flexibility there, and tons of abilities and magic like most of the series, and you can control anyone on the fly. How has this series only continually gone backwards from some of the good things FF12 did? Considering they continue to focus on more real time battle mechanics.

Most of the dungeons I did were just caves and generally kind of boring. I also hate how they couldn't bring back goofy looking treasure chests or something. The flashing diamond-esque item icon is super lame.

The music was great, but really feels forgettable already. I can't even recall the final boss theme. If there's one thing I can praise about the FF13 games, it's the music ... which to me is more videogamey in cool ways. I know this is subjective, but there just seemed to be way more BEEF there too. The OST's for each of the FF13 games are huge. This felt like the smallest FF OST ever produced. It's all kind of just there. Love Yoko's work, but yeah. Really wish they could get Uematsu back one of thesedays.

Side missions lead into nothing. Sure they might eventually point you into the direction of a new dungeon or something. But you are otherwise just getting new loot. The structure of everything outside of the main story is about as thin and MMO as it gets. Utterly repetitive and uninteresting.

I just can't give this one any slack now. I'm going bananas wondering if FF13 is better. It's arguably a more complete product and has more depth to the battle system and mechanics once you can actually mess with them. The four Ninja Turtles of FF in FF15 were likeable, but they can't alone save everything else.

While a little crazy XIII at feels like a complete product and that's without even delving into the two sequels which I really need to go back and play(had the PS3 on a CRT tv at the time and the font was so small that the QTEs and subs were unreadable so I flaked :P. FFXV might feel a little better after a few DLC drops and some major tinkering with the story but it feels like it would need some major rewrites to stand alongside the other stories within the series especially in the Luna and Ifirit department.

Really I wish they would add a chapter or two where you play from the perspective off someone in the empire as the shit hits the fan. I think there is supposed to be some Ravus content coming which could fix that and also be used to flesh out Luna who got entirely to little screen time given her significance to the story. Kind of have a feeling this is going to be one of those games where I would have been better off picking up a "complete" version a year or two down the road.

Edit: Just remembered that I have some no rush credits on Amazon so I could technically get the Season Pass for "Free". Might check it out once the Comrades dlc comes out just to see what co-op is like that could be a real game changer if it isn't super restricted.

FF13-2 is legit awesome in my book. No complaints with that one, cool villain, gameplay open from the start (what a concept? haha), epic final boss, etc. But yeah that's the irony, on its own FF13 is very complete with a great ending. I couldn't stomach much of Lightning Returns, but I'll give it another chance someday perhaps.

My problem about FF15 DLC is what I was saying earlier... even when I was happier with the game about midway in, I wasn't really planning on playing this off and on for the next year or more. And I don't want to drop more than $60 into it for a complete narrative, lol. But yeah maybe I'll consider the complete edition when that inevitably releases several years down the road.

That's a good idea on a perspective change being able to help fix that portion.

I quite liked it, up until the end. Personally not to my taste, when people ask me about worst game endings, FFXIII-2 springs to mind pretty quick. (Lighting's DLC made it quite a bit better).

Considering doing either a play a play through of the FFXIII trilogy on PS3 or the HD release of FFX/X-2 next. Although right now I've started sinking into Persona 4 Golden on the Vita so that might have a occupied for a while :P.

Really I've tried the other games in the past but that was before I matured into tactical gameplay so I used to rarely use items in combat and horded ass loads of money and useless weapons which crippled me a bit at the end game. I literally got to the final boss/dungeon in VII, VIII, X, III, and advanced Tactics but moved on before beating them :P.

It's a bit hard for me to go through this discussion while avoiding the spoilers xD. not to mention that now I'm really unsure about this game. I was looking into getting either a switch or a PS4, and this game was a major reason for me to get a PS4. But now it sounds like it's barely better than FF13, which was an ok game that I just never wanted to go back to (unlike Final Fantasy 6-9 and even 12, which I really liked).

Maybe I should just try it out at a friends' place or something. Is there a demo on the PS store by any chance?

There have been rumors of a FFXIII collection for Xbox One/PS4 coming, likely in 2017 due to it being the 30th anniversary for Final Fantasy - though the PC ports might already cover some of the potential improvements there.

Gave in and ordered the limited PS4 Final Fantasy XV edition. Fingers crossed that I will like this game (and that I'll be satisfied with my new console :) )

Forgot to say I got the platinum for the game, I loved my time with it, few hiccups here and there but overall I loved the game.

I think the Chocobo Carnival time and resources most likely could have been used to develop something more useful, but if it gets me to play the game for another hour, cool.

My ps4 just arrived :D. should I watch the bundled kingsglave movie, or just go directly into the game and watch it later?
