Reprints on Etsy

Post by Blu »

This fellow is selling high grade reproductions of rare Sega CD, Saturn, and Dreamcast titles. There has to be some implications. There's some interesting picks.

1: if the image of the original exceeds 700mb on a CD, it's not the full, unaltered game.
2. Copyright and IP issues.

Have you seen other folks doing this?

ATTN: Some games can be finicky in some Dreamcasts if it doesn't want to boot right away you can play another game on it for a little bit of time before you pop this in, then it should boot up fine, or something I've done to get it to boot right off is power the system on and off at the Dreamcast Logo Screen a few times and when you hear the laser start going it will start reading the game and your golden from there.
Lovely.

Anyone got a history on this guy? I'd like to see what he may be up to on ebay as well or the quality of his goods to be able to spot it. I got a DC a few days ago, want to know what I'm getting into.

Yeah. It's sleezy. I was looking at some photos. Doesn't look like they printed manuals.

I hope they don't make their way to eBay.

Not really. I've noticed it for a good year or two now. Once the aliexpress stuff got to the level of being indistinguishable from original releases (for carts) until you open them up (aside from SNES cheapos with plastic front screws) they've shown up quite a lot on etsy. Most will list them as reproductions, the classic lie to cover being a bootleg, yet they'll price it anywhere from fair/reasonable to upper end between that and the real version. People buy them as I've seen them go. Dreamcast though, people on ebay don't always list them as reproductions probably since if you know what a DC game is it's pretty obvious.

Gee, it's almost as if an Etsy user reported him for violating Etsy's rules...
