Re: The Politics/Society/World Affairs Thread (BE CIVIL)

Oh, I know exactly why Trump won and the Democrats lost. I'm well aware that it was a trojan horse victory and revolution for the disenfranchised, left behind, as well as those right wingers who were fed up of two terms of Obama. Meanwhile, Democrats chose an unlikeable, uncharismatic candidate for presidency that was pushing the status quo and was seen as representative of exactly what people were sick of.

I watch Jonathan Pie and have seen the aforementioned clip already. Sometimes I think he's on the money, sometimes he isn't. Either way, he's exactly right when he says "I'd personally vote for Lucifer over Donald Trump". It should end there... Like I said, a TROJAN HORSE victory, just like Brexit was for the British. Trump is an idiot, a man-child, a fraud and a hypocrite. He is thin-skinned, insecure, a narcissist, a liar, is reactionary, contradictory, pandered to populist mentality. Forget the standard smears the left threw at him, he's clearly unfit for the job based on those characteristics alone. Twitter shows just how insecure he is. Just look at the tweet he sent once at 6am about Alec Baldwin's impression of him, then alluded to SNL getting cancelled in the future. Haha.

That is the thing, no news is neutral! Take in what News source you prefer, just don't believe all true and not biased. That is the way I feel about Fox News Channel, biased to conservative views to me more palatable. versus the Liberal channels. People have different liberal to conservative preferences and will watch TV News that appeal to them.
I still don't think you get it. On what basis would you counter that the map of bias is wrong? Your gut? Do you have expertise in studying media bias? I don't disagree with you that people will watch things that comfort them, but that doesn't negate the fact that media bias can in fact be tracked in such a way as to prove which sources are more or less reliable and/or politically biased. What would it take for you to trust a source like the Wall Street Journal or NPR? Or ABC, CBS, or NBC News? Is evidence of higher relative neutrality by people who track such things for a living not enough?! It is always worth reading/watching much of the news media (from all angles) if only to get a sense of what things people are being told, but you must do so through a lens that discriminates quality between them based on information like that presented in the map.

It seems a better explanation of your continued insistence on citing bad sources of information might be the pangs of cognitive dissonance caused when you are confronted with information, grounded in research, that challenges or invalidates your worldview...

I posted an example of bias of the Wall Street Journal above your Reply on the edit of his tweet! At least they did mention in the video that Trump's Nuclear Tweet was a response to Putin's Nuclear increase announcement. Just wrong how the media is pushing that Trump is promoting an Arms Race instead of the Nuclear reaction necessity.

I slugged thru the major networks for decades, even posting my TV schedule in my link you quoted. I also posted an example how bad NBC is in the link; take a look at the earlier Quote from Nov 23rd, as Trump stated "Not Nice!" After a couple more weeks of dog doo, gave up on the mainstream and just catch local news on an Independent and Fox News Channel for national news. After the Presidential Inauguration dust is settled, I may eventually watch the mainstream TV news again per my previous schedule to get the bias (sigh) of both sides.

EDIT REPOST

Hah! Trump himself posted just as I mentioned earlier! You want Trump's full unbiased statements, ignore the News Media!

@NBCNews purposely left out this part of my nuclear qoute: "until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes." Dishonest!
Oh and the Nuclear weapons replacement has been in the works for months now to upgrade the old arsenal and as a reaction to keep up with other countries including North Korea and Iran with our $400 million plus $1.3 billion interest "Aid" screwup! Have a Merry Nuclear Winter. :?

U.S. Nuclear Modernization Programs

The Obama administration has requested large increases for nuclear weapons programs at the Defense and Energy Departments to sustain and modernize the arsenal. Indeed, current and proposed spending levels for many key efforts currently exceed what the administration originally advertised early in its first term. Defense Secretary Ash Carter told the Senate and House armed services committees in March 2016 that he “expects the total cost of nuclear modernization to be in the range of $350-$450 billion.” The estimate includes the cost to modernize and replace all three legs of the triad, including the full cost of the strategic bomber force.

Hey now, Trump isn't the only one who can irresponsibly use Twitter instead of acting like an adult. Apparently Pakistan is getting in on it too.

And then that leads to another article that interviews a man who opened fire in a pizzeria because he read something online that said it was part of a child sex ring.

Everything that Hillary opponents claimed made her corrupt and unacceptable Trump is doing 2 times over, and he's not even president, yet.

Many do not like Trump's Tweets which come across as one sided and just vague short sentences. Personally I like it, look how it made Boeing and Lockheed react immediately saving Tax Payers millions of dollars! Communication to the masses direct from the President Elect.

Newt Gingrich: Trump will continue to tweet no matter whether it’s ‘brilliant or stupid’ – so get used to it

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, former House Majority Leader Newt Gingrich said Donald Trump’s use of Twitter signals a new era of communication and people better get used to it whether “it’s brilliant or stupid.”

Speaking with host Chris Wallace, Gingrich said he had a suggestion for people who are upset about the Leader of the Free World hopping on Twitter to express thoughts with little regard for real world consequences.

“We might as well get used to it,” Gingrich said. “This is who he is and how he’s gonna operate. Whether it’s brilliant or stupid, he beat 16 rivals, then he beat Hillary Clinton and he beat the elite media. He ain’t giving it up.”

“Do you think it’s brilliant or stupid?” Wallace asked.

“I think it’s brilliant,” Gingrich replied. “Because, first of all, he’s able very quickly, over and over again, to set the agenda. And at almost no cost.”

Those "savings" haven't happened, yet, so they're theoretical only, much like Trump's tax plan which will likely incur massive debt.

You do realize that taxpayer money is then going to Boeing to pay their employees to design and build the plane, right? That's how government contracts work, and its one of the ways for the government to inject money into the economy (which they take out through taxes). So cutting the contract would have put a lot of jobs at risk.
