Refrigerators come equipped with screens, now, so it's only a matter of time.

Just found out some local misfortune on this one.

Target this morning got 4, they were gone in under 4 minutes because there are still psychos standing outside hours earlier to line up.

They said Best Buy had some for tomorrow. I went in there on the way to get my kid, and not company policy but the manager is being a flaming dick about it. He has a supply but he will not let anyone who works for them tell anyone if they got a few or a lot, no numbers or ranges. He wants people to start lining up at 4am for them and they'll get a number and have to wait, they will open at 8am. They will just hand out numbers and hopefully that number will fall into the range of units they got.

People like that sicken me jerking people around handling it like Black Friday and worse yet, setting it up for a chance to get with a number, but not a number to guarantee you get one. They may have one box of 4, or 5 boxes of 4 (20) but they'll just hand out numbers and you with one hope it works out the best.

My wife is contemplating standing out there in her carhartts to get one if anything just to flip the bird to scalpers as it won't get resold. I told her not to. I have to drop the kit off at school at 7am, I figured I could see how many looneys are in line at that rate and if it's small I can stick around for 30min and see if it matters or not. But 4 hours? Hell no. I told her I'm waiting until after Christmas as it's not worth the frustration, anger and time wasting.

Sounds to me like demand has outpaced the supply.

It's Nintendo, they intentionally understock so pretty much, yup.

The fact BB got them in early this morning and didn't just them out to pull a stunt like that is disgusting though. Hiding the stock, giving false hope, and having to line up hours earlier to hope a number is low enough to meet the number they know they have and won't disclose is sleazy. Anyone in store today should be allowed to buy a good, their money is just as good as anyone else's cash.

I would like to see your proof of this.

Why is it bad business to get a lot of people to come to your store in the hopes of being able to buy something? It at least gets a lot of people in your store, doesn't it? Seems smart to me, from a manager's perspective.

What logic is there making people stand out in 15F weather at 4am for 4 hours to maybe get one? That's just sadistic. They could just have shoved them on the shelf this morning at open and they'd still sell.

I can't prove it, I just go by what I get told and I don't mean from the internet. Nintendo under stocks goods to create demand then produces more at a consistent smaller level to ensure they're not stuck with excess inventory. They did it with the Wii, the WiiU(which backfired), and Amiibos as well. It creates harder demand for the product because people get worked up over not being able to buy it so they keep Nintendo on their mind. It's a solid marketing strategy, not the the best for those who really want them, but it does drive the desire more than just a casual walk in to pick up.

I don't get the frenzy over the NES Classic PlugNPlay. Yes its cool, but the NES games are available in so many consoles and home PC thru emulation. Be patient, wait a couple months then buy when in stock without going thru all the hassle.

I get it, it's all in one place, with no legal issues on your TV. This isn't for your average retro gamer, in fact, I'd guess that a big part of it's audience are adults that played the NES when they were a kid and haven't played games since.
