Re: 3d castlevanias
They've got their share of flaws, but I liked Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.
Re: 3d castlevanias
I liked Lament a lot, but no where near as good as SOTN. Curse of Darkness, I played the demo and been wanting to pick it up, but haven't yet.
Re: 3d castlevanias
I like the game play of LoI but thought the graphics on CoD was better. Curse seemed empty of enemies, and lot's of long hallways. Both are by far the better of all the other 3D attempts, but far below any of the more recent 2D GBA/DS games. Should be cheap in the used bin.

Play Castlevania 64! It's the greatest game ever!

Re: 3d castlevanias
It's decent, but I'll take the original, 3 or 4 any day over 64!
Re: 3d castlevanias
I'd also say Lament of Innocence was pretty good, though I felt the game was vastly improved the second time through, with the unlockable characters.
Re: 3d castlevanias
And if you have a completed file in LoI, there's an item that you can get in Darkness that you otherwise can't. Needless to say, you can't get that item in the Xbox version. This was always more incentive for me to get Darkness, but still I haven't yet.
Re: 3d castlevanias
Lament was great IMO. I loved the soundtrack. Couldn't really get into CoD. got tired of the huge empty rooms and hallways.

Like I said, I never played it, but this always turned me off to it a little.
