Re: Pokémon Go
Well at the zoo the other day for their winter lights spectacular and it was an onix nest. Caught 15 and called it quits as I should have enough to get close to evolving a steelix when the time comes.

Re: Pokémon Go
I saw a wild Onix last week (at only 93 CP), as well as a wild Grimer today.
As confident as I was that the Level 10 beach-head would continue to stay, it was taken down by 2 Mystic players whose names I've never seen before, both over level 30. That gym without me lasted at least since mid September, I imagine, and again I was there 58 days + 20 hours. It's been a VERY rough week for me in gyms. But I still managed to get back into the temple today and now I found 7 that may be good for a decent bonus before the major announcement is dropped tomorrow.

Re: Pokémon Go
So the baby Pokemon have been released, obtainable through eggs only. They didn't say what size, but I hope 2 KM, as I have three of those stocked up for just this occasion. We will see!

Re: Pokémon Go
Yes, the big announcement has been made. Gen 2 is on a slow rollout, starting with the baby Pokémon, only available in eggs. Of course I already have 9 eggs from previous days so in they go to the incubators so I can start gettng the newer ones. The rest of the Gen 2s will be coming in the months ahead. To answer a possible question, your Pokédex will expand once the new Pokémon are hatched.
Members from The Silph Road have hatched the following thus far:
From 2km eggs:
Igglybuff
Cleffa
From 5km eggs:
Pichu
From 10km eggs:
Magby
Elekid
Smoochum
Also from now till the 29th, look for the special holiday Pikachu with a Santa hat. I couldn't help but be reminded of:
Bold strategies here Niantic. Let's see if they pay off.

Re: Pokémon Go
Ah, they're doing a slow rollout. Smart move. I'd rather they gradually increase the number than have them dump a whole new Gen on us. It's less overwhelming. I'm guessing the next small batch they'll release will be the newly evolved forms such as Steelix next.
In other news, I hatched my last 10k egg from last weekend. It was-
Chancy
Thank goodness. I'm still miffed I missed that one when I was up in Colorado, so this makes up for it. It's stats are kind of meh, sadly, but I'll live. I got another 10k egg this weekend, but it was just another Scyther (my 3rd). But I'm sure the candies will come in handy for it later, so I can't complain.
Also, after 344 km walked and a couple lucky catches, I have finally acquired enough candies to evolve my Dragonair into a Dragonite. Whoot! I also caught a Tentacruel while out walking yesterday, so my Pokedex now sits at 128 Caught to 140 Seen. But adding in the new evolutions I can now pull off thanks to Egg/Walking candy (Squirtle, Pikachu Voltorb, Omanyte, Dragonair), that number will rise to 133/140. A couple of those I'm holding off on until I can find (or hatch) a mon with decent stats.
That just leaves six evolutions left that I can Buddy walk to fill the Pokedex (Not including, of course, the region exclusives or the non-evolving Pokemon that I'll have to find on my own.) Considering how rarely I see some of the few missing evolutions that I have left, my current buddy is now Grimer. I got him from an egg and haven't seen one before or since. So, baring a rare sighting or another hatch, that pile of slime is now my new best friend.
I really look forward to the time I can swap him out with Vulpix

Re: Pokémon Go
Little sad about the slow rollout myself - I'd have rather had the excitement of a big wave of new pokémon and the game feeling more like it did when it first came out with constant new stuff I needed than more boring egg hatching which is basically what I do constantly now anyway - walk with buddies, walk with eggs...
I caught 2 more Omanyte today, bringing me up to 39 candies. Almost there, although with the update for gen 2 babies, it's possible my Omanyte spot won't be there anymore tomorrow

Re: Pokémon Go
I'm annoyed with it too. Given that all I seem to ever get are 5k eggs and rarely a 2k I can forget smoochum or much of the others though I imagine I may end up with a Pichu tomorrow as I have .3 to go on a 5k egg.
The one good thing out of today was a Snorlax of all things popped up when I parked at Target. Ended up being a badass one too. He has 2199 CP, came with Lick and Hyperbeam with 207 HP. He's only proud though, attack, wow and small/cute sized. It's a boost at least on my existing at 1980 is just decent with HP being wow and small/cute too at 212HP with the same move set. I was hoping I'd get one with earthquake. Not sure if I should keep the crappier old one or not as investing candy in to the better seems wiser to me.
Also did evolve a fantastic jolteon though. 1929 CP, 94HP, thundershock/discharge -- amazing, atk+def and a wow on those.

Re: Pokémon Go
Most people so far seem to agree a slow rollout instead of a "dump 100 at once" seems to be better. I'm a little disappointed at this, but I was expecting a lot more backlash from the "WHY AREN'T THEY IN THE WILD" and the "WHY NOT ALL 100" camps. Most people seem satisfied with something new. Of course I can't join in until I get rid of these 9 previous eggs (7 5km/2 2km) first.
More information incoming from new Silph Road thread.
No. Name How Evolve for
172 Pichu 5km egg 25 candy
173 Cleffa 2km egg 25 candy
174 Igglybuff 2km egg 25 candy
175 Togepi 5km egg 50 candy
176 Togetic evolve Togepi n/a
196 Espeon* not available n/a
197 Umbreon* not available n/a
236 Tyrogue* not available
238 Smoochum 10km egg 25 candy
239 Elekid 10km egg 25 candy
240 Magby 10km egg 25 candy
So for now it's 2 in 2km, 2 in 5km, and 3 in 10km.
Fast gym update, got a 7 bonus today but now down to 5. Going downtown tomorrow to see if I can't bring that number back up.
Oh, and I'm now Level 28. Burned through those Revives I got as a reward real fast.

Re: Pokémon Go
I don't understand why a person would be annoyed by this update. What harm does this do? I feel people will find any reason to complain. If all 100 were released people would be outraged that it would require them to buy more bag space.
I stress again that this is a video game and if you aren't enjoying it, take a step back.

Re: Pokémon Go
I think if anything is a very very valid complaint is hiding all the new ones behind an egg wall. And when you figure it almost only gives out 5km and rarely if never anymore does 10km eggs, it'll be pointless almost hoping to get something new that you want or need.
It would be wise to weed them into the public space.
