Seriously, those names were awesome...sure they'd be cheesy in today's market but they weren't exactly expected names in the 80's or 90's. I mean we did have a Turbografx16, Master System, and such but now we just stick to playstation and xbox blech

I'm starting to see the appeal of this stupid thing. Take the solid hardware of the Shield; add tactile controls and AAA games. Hmm.

This might sound stupid, but it'd be more of an insta-sale for me if it had some simple features that would make it a good tablet replacement. I'm sure it'll have a web browser, which is a must. But things like Netflix and a Kindle app would be really nice as well.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have stuff like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc., seeing as both the Wii and Wii U had them.

Wii had Netflix and Youtube, and WiiU had those and more services so count on that. Given this is basically an nvidia shield 2 custom setup tablet the limits will be all on nintendo what they allow for internet access and not down to app installs and the rest.

Kindle might be a stretch if Amazon feels it would be some form of competition for the Fire in any way but if not I can't see why they wouldn't if Nintendo didn't block it.

this was my thought as well. But it basically being a tablet, it would be a really nice feature.

I could see Nintendo opening up and having a few more apps going this time around. While the Wii u gamepad was certainly tablet shaped it was hardly a tablet, with being tethered to the system and all that. I don't consider the Switch competition for the fire either. Fires cost like what $60 or something like that? With the Switch probably being more around 300 its in a different league entirely and as long as amazon is selling you books I doubt they care what hardware you read them on.

Amazon is really stupid though.....they've blocked cast and atv because they don't support their streaming stuff but the problem is they didn't even bother to make them compatible. Seeing as this is more for gaming I can't see them doing anything weird about it. At least I'm hopeful that they won't...

part of me thinks this is very interesting, and part of me thinks that as far as portables go it would make a lot more sense for me to consider the Smach Zero ("Steamboy") or GPD Win as it would mean I could play the PC games I already own portably. Something to think about (and I've got 3 months to do so, right?).

As it stands now, not much has been announced for the Switch that I want to play and can't already play on PC. Skyrim on the go is alluring - but again, if I got one of those portable PC units then I already have Skyrim. Zelda does look good. But the biggest draw at this point would probably be Virtual Console.
