Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven (3DS)
Bought this game purely on the base that it was an XSEED/Marvelous published title, and I kinda regret not doing some research on it. This is the Warcraft 2 of strategy games with waifus inserted in it. Though there are many waifus (which are fairly blandly/trope-ily written so they're not that interesting in the first place), the gameplay is just SOOOO slow. Your units move so little per turn, the enemy units have SO much HP, your guys have tons of HP too, so you don't do or take nearly enough damage for there to feel like there are any real stakes in your fights (this definitely ain't Fire Emblem, folks). The battle system seemed cool at first, but it really just doesn't move anywhere, and the battles have poor variety and move so slowly that I don't really care if it gets any more complex than it is (and I quite frankly doubt it does). The story is interesting, but the English voice cast ranges from cringy to okay at best, so I'm really not gonna miss this terribly.
Maybe worth picking up if you see it for cheap, as it is a Marvelous game and will likely be rare, but to play, it's probably not worth it.
Not sure what to play next. Might play Tales of the Abyss again so I can get my 3DS fix, or I might give Persona 4 (Golden) a 3rd try Xp

The gameplay is kind of like Diablo in an Xmen setting but with a linear set of stages and (as far as I could see) no type of store or anything. If you can get over the camera issues and have some buddies for some couch co-op, it might be a good fit.PartridgeSenpai wrote: Gamecube games I've never heard of!?! QwQ
Are they beat-em-ups? Why didn't you feel they gelled with you? I'm ALWAYS up for a spin of some new multiplayer Gamecube fare.
...which, btb, I'll be offering both Xmen Legends games for our Auction in a week or so. Might be a chance to get the games cheap and help out a cause!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

With figure skating, you're trying to do something that creates an impact on the judges, surprises them with the artistry," he says. "The idea that we'd have a computer figure skater that beats the best humans is hard to imagine, but building a machine that beats a human in the hundred meter dash, that's obvious.....

Damn it now Tales is going to have to go up on the list for real. I was playing it before I moved and flipped my desk in my room and somehow my 43 hour save is gone completely. Unles I can figure out something I'm screwed. It's definitely more than 43 hours wasted at this point since I spent so much time retracking up to certain points the few times I died in game not to mention the time spent looking for maps and such of certain areas that I ended up lost in. Just great....lovely...

Wow dude, that's an RPG nightmare. Keep us posted, that seems weird. I forget if you were emulating this or what? Like if it was a console/handheld, did something bump the system, the memory card, the PC? Sounds weird.
I wouldn't call it a loss though. Liked seeing your updates and it sounds like you enjoyed the journey for the most part. In this day and age, maybe look up a youtube playthrough and skim around to see how the rest unfolds. But yeah that sucks.

For sure. Hell, your updates inspired me to get the game and play it soon.Xeogred wrote:Wow dude, that's an RPG nightmare. Keep us posted, that seems weird. The thing is I am sem-emulating it. I have it on retron5 and had been saving religously every time I found a save point so there's no reason I should've lost it. I had moved my desk within the past week and unhooked stuff but it should've been saved to file or wherever it saves it.....it's really strange at this point. I might give it another go next week but for now I'm done. This pissed me off so much I can't even think straight to bother giving it another go to get back to where I was.....

Well I don't think any of us would blame you. Back in the day I'd get pissed if I lost a few hours between save points, but 40+ hours? That's back on the shelf and I'll touch it next decade territory.
Re: Games NOT Beaten: 2016
I'd find a save state to download or just YouTube the rest of that sucker and call it done.
