Perhaps the General only had fatigues and borrowed a hand me down that Trump grew out of. Hey, at least both in the same uniform. Just finished watching the speech which was similar to last week. Mad Dog did not say much, just honored and thank you. A soldier that rather be watching his troops, a very good choice for the man in charge of Defense. Couldn't help notice all the emphasis that he is the "Civilian in charge" to appease the idiots in congress.

I don't agree with Mattis, he is often too Moto. And there's definite group think between having your cabinet be composed of tons of generals and an admiral. Flynn, Mattis, Rogers, Kelly, Betraeus -- ever wonder why we have a Joint Chiefs of Staff in the first place?

Diplomacy is an option we exercise first, for good reasons.

I have given some thought to the discourse in this thread, especially my own. Here is ultimately the reason I won't be taking part in the discussion any longer...

I find conservatives to be selfish people. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, and I'm sure that there are cases which this just isn't true, but I can't find a way to look at your beliefs with anything but disdain. It isn't because I want to be judgmental, in fact I make a lot of effort to reflect on my feelings and try to see your point of view. I simply can't get there in this case.

It's a lot of my own fault that I can't communicate with you properly because I find a lot of the things you say distasteful. Though, you are certainly entitled to feel and say those things. It's a bit of a double edged sword for me because it brings out the nastiest bit of my nature to try and discuss these issues when I can't understand your views from a basic human standpoint. I do stereotype you, I do look at you with anger and judgment, I do vilify you, and for all of that I am sorry. I don't want to be that person.

In any case, I wish I could see the world in a way that allowed me to have some perspective on your views that might be productive. I'm afraid my own limitations are just as nasty as those I perceive you to have. If I have made any of you feel attacked, judged, angered, or misunderstood...I sincerely apologize.

We may never see eye to eye, but it is one country we have to share and I am done fighting about it. It's made me bitter and nasty, I walk around feeling angry over it. In the end it doesn't change a thing.

I hope we all prosper and make positive changes, whatever that means to us individually, going forward.

I completely respect your desire to not continue participation in the thread. I've mulled over the same, because I don't feel like I can adequately convey all of the thought processes that lead me to my beliefs, at least not without spending pages and pages of text explaining how everything links together. And I suspect your beliefs are much the same, it's a sort of tapestry woven together that not only requires facts, but a specific interpretation of those facts into the larger template. We're literally looking at the same data and coming to different conclusions on how to handle things because the lenses we view things through are different. I believe we both want to help people, but our methods sometimes differ.

I very much wish you well in your life and future endeavors, as I do to all that have participated here and potentially both drawn my ire and those I might have inspired ire in as well.

I hate to break this to you for what seems like the 1,000th time, CRT. We don't live in a direct democracy. We live in a constitutionally limited representative democratic republic. The Electoral College, regardless of how you see it as corrupt, is working as it was intended. If Trump is in fact, a threat to our country, the Electoral College is designed to elect someone else. Instead of being upset that it's corrupt and posting news articles, have you actually posted any sort of reflection that comes from how it was designed in the first place? Rather than frothing at the bit about how morally reprehensible it has been, may I offer an alternative? (An aside: it's not, it's working as intended) You could go and understand the rationale as to why it's there in the first place by reading some of the wisdom in the Federalist Papers. It deals with allowing a veto for someone who is unfit for the office. You're doing us no favors by "shedding light" with posts like this, I feel now's a good time to drop it, since there's been little effort to see what it was truly designed for. That said, I'd take Kasich gladly. I'd love for Hillary to come out, and say, I unbound all of my electors, and see where that goes.

And it should be no surprise that elite control this country, and other countries around the world. For that, I say, welcome to the peasantry. Time to respect our feudal lords, who know what's best for us.
