2 hours to go for Trump's live speech in North Carolina at Fox News. Watch the entire speech live and uncut.
Once again the Electoral College proves its corruption. I really want to know why the Electors are the experts deciding for the nation who should be President! Fire the bunch of them!
Out of the blue deciding his very own candidate!

DALLAS — I am a Republican presidential elector, one of the 538 people asked to choose officially the president of the United States. Since the election, people have asked me to change my vote based on policy disagreements with Donald J. Trump. In some cases, they cite the popular vote difference. I do not think presidents-elect should be disqualified for policy disagreements. I do not think they should be disqualified because they won the Electoral College instead of the popular vote. However, now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is not qualified for the office.
The election of the next president is not yet a done deal. Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country. Presidential electors have the legal right and a constitutional duty to vote their conscience. I believe electors should unify behind a Republican alternative, an honorable and qualified man or woman such as Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. I pray my fellow electors will do their job and join with me in discovering who that person should be.

Indeed, it's rare for an elector to do this, but it's not outside of what the founders intended. The idea of "faithless electors" and all that.

I know all that "Electoral College doing what is best for the country" and oh certainly not their own personal agenda against the vote of the nation. Just the idea that a percentage are pledged to each party no matter what wipes out any chance for Independent Candidate. The Electoral College is an antiquated system that really needs abolished, shredded, burned and forgotten in the dumpster.
A group of electors deciding their very own separate Candidate certainly has gone off the deep end.
What! Not even an impartial vote, but the idea of joining votes for their own agenda!

Meanwhile the President Elect Businessman brought in another deal. Carrier, Ford and now this before even becoming president. Interesting that the stock market has been doing so well after the election results. Watch the Boeing Air Force One contract and all the other deals a smart businessman fixes in Washington.

Love Trump or hate him, at least he is communicating daily to the world. Though Trump disdains the Media as "Not Nice"; Time magazine decision as "Person Of The Year" pretty much expected as the biggest news influence. The caption "President Of The Divided States Of America" makes one ponder. "Time" will tell how well the next four years progresses.

Republican Electoral College member says he won’t vote for Trump
Texas law doesn’t mandate that electors vote according to the results of the state’s presidential election, which Trump won by nine percentage points over Hillary Clinton. Suprun and the GOP’s other electors signed pledges at the state Republican convention in Dallas this summer promising to vote for their party’s nominee, but those aren’t legally binding.
Another Texas Republican elector, Art Sisneros, resigned last week rather than vote for Trump. Electors will vote to replace Sisneros when they convene Dec. 19 in Austin and in state capitals across the country to vote for president.
Suprun said he was not resigning but also won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton. “I am not sure of who I will vote for, but would have to strongly consider someone like (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich who has both executive and legislative experience bringing people together,” he said. Suprun said he was waiting to see if other electors will revolt and rally behind a Trump alternative like Kasich. “I’m looking for someone we can all unify behind,” he said.
What! Not even an impartial vote, but the idea of joining votes for their own agenda!

Japanese corporate giant is investing $50 billion in the U.S
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Japanese telecom and internet conglomerate SoftBank would invest $50 billion in the United States and create 50,000 new jobs, saying that the decision wouldn't have been made without Trump's election win. Trump appeared in the lobby of the Trump Tower on Tuesday with Masayoshi Son, the chief executive of SoftBank, to announce the news, and later on Twitter claimed credit.
Donald Trump wrote:https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/
Masa (SoftBank) of Japan has agreed to invest $50 billion in the U.S. toward businesses and 50,000 new jobs. Masa said he would never do this had we (Trump) not won the election!
Join me tonight in Fayetteville, North Carolina at 7pm!
Son told reporters at Trump Tower that the funds would be invested into American start-ups. It was not immediately clear how much of the investment was new, and how much was previously committed. Son told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that the money will come from a $100 billion joint investment by SoftBank and the Saudi Arabian government.
As he spoke to reporters in the Trump Tower, Son held up a piece of paper with the same figures that Trump had announced, but which also specified that the investment would be made in the next four years. The paper also contained the logo of Foxconn, a major supplier for Apple’s iPhones. Foxconn could not immediately be reached for comment, and it was not clear what role the company would play in the deal.
Softbank owns roughly 80 percent of telecom company Sprint. Following the announcement, shares of Sprint Corp surged nearly 4 percent as of mid-afternoon.

Re: So the whole world is kind of falling apart...
The founding fathers were not really big fans of populism and direct democracy. They put in lots of barriers and bought into the idea of the rational/intellectual elite whole-heartedly.
Re: So the whole world is kind of falling apart...
Yeah, I've said it before, the electoral college does what it's supposed to do, and does it well. I don't see any reason to go changing it right now, and I'd be saying that if Sec. Clinton had won as well. I wouldn't prefer switching to a direct democracy, and there is a reason so many layers have been put into place.
I would also point out that just because a system is old doesn't mean it can't still accomplish its task. Age itself shouldn't be a factor for or against the merits of a particular system.

Hey CRT, I want to see if you can go an entire day without using the quote tag.
Personally, I disagree with the existence of the electoral college, but given that it's what we have I see nothing wrong with the members doing what is allowed per the constitution.

Given state laws punishing faithless electors and how well-bound most seem to be, might as well get rid of them.

I figure much more honest copy pasting into quote giving link credit vs adding the words to my own post. When you think about it, we all do a form of that copy paste taking in and typing in what we see every day.
I have been against the Electoral College for decades with this election really bringing out the fire. Clinton really should be President right now, but then who is to know? Each Candidate would not have just concentrated their efforts in the swing states; might have also swung where the Popular Actual vote outcome in each state.
December 19th, a day to watch, lets see how the 538 elite decide for the rest of the country.
Fire them all! Most states only require a NON-BINDING pledge. Oh crap another quote!marurun wrote:Given state laws punishing faithless electors and how well-bound most seem to be, might as well get rid of them.

Most of the laws cited above require electors to vote for the candidate of the party that nominated the elector, or require the elector to sign a pledge to do so. Some go further: Oklahoma and Washington impose a civil penalty of $1,000; in North Carolina, the fine is $500, the faithless elector is deemed to have resigned, and a replacement is appointed. In South Carolina, an elector who violates his or her pledge is subject to criminal penalties, and in New Mexico a violation is a fourth degree felony. In Michigan and Utah, a candidate who fails to vote as required is considered to have resigned, and a replacement is appointed.
