You couldn't be more gullible if you tried.

You know, CRT, there are LOTS of conservative judges who let drunk drivers and rapists off, because the local culture excuses those kind of excesses, especially in the south. I don't think it's appropriate to single out a single judge's political leanings on a singular ruling, because that information isn't useful. You need to use some kind of aggregate data. Are judges who lean more liberal or more conservative less or more likely to let certain types of crimes slide. A single instance is much more likely to hinge on the facts of the case, such as the evidence presented, the behavior of the prosecution and defense in court, etc...

When the Genesis gets games, it's not getting the best. It's not getting Final Fantasy VI. It's not getting Mega Man X. It's getting games that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems to the Genesis. It's getting Altered Beast. It's getting Decap Attack. It's got Kid Chameleon. And some, I assume, are good shmups.

Okay apologies, I should ignore the label and go with the actions. True, the entire run of a judge should be judged if liberal or conservative or what. Maybe most cases the judge did stick to the law and award the appropriate punishment? However, just letting that Sex Assault Criminal free after found guilty is so wrong. Hopefully that pops up again if the judge is on the ballot and not appointed.

You are right, the shame is so many in society think it is okay based on someones past leading up to the crime. I stand by that if you have intellect, you decide your actions and if unlawful take personal responsibility. That gunman shooting the restaurant chose to do that, does not matter whatever influences leading up to it. Should there be an equal sentence for every crime? No, but then don't do the extreme and drop the charge! Follow the law!

Yeah...The terms "conservative" and "liberal" only apply to judges when they are deciding issues of constitutional law. Even then, the labels do not fit neatly, since "conservative" judges' decisions often do not fit with "conservative" political positions and vice versa. Describing a judge as a originalist, structuralist, textualist, etc. is more apt. (BTW, no method of constitutional or statutory interpretation is that much better than another, and in my experience, all of them - despite their proponents' assertions to the contrary - are equally subjective.)

You know, while my core political values haven't and aren't likely to change, theae discussions, and typically the more well reasoned posts that are thoughtful and considerate, actually have opened my eyes a little and have caused me to be more considerate myself of opposing views and their reasoning behind them.

The aggressive or overly sarcastic views do generate an immediate innate push back and entrenching. So while i dont think any of this will cause someone to change a side, I think they can do some good.

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to thank those of you that have contributed to respectful and reasonable dialogue. Those moments have been edifying.
