PS2 Problem

So my PS2 is very old. its a lanch system and surprisingly works very well still. Recently, although, it stoped playing DVD movies. It still plays all ps1, ps2 bluebacks, and ps2 dvd games perfectly. this isnt too urgent because i have a dvd player im just curious on some of the insight that you guys might beable to tell me. im personally thinging its a dirty lazer.

My old fattie had the same problem. A quick dusting of the innards and especially a dust off (canned air works great) of the laser lens got it working again. I couldn't believe how dusty it had gotten inside over the years. I now clean all my systems inside and out at least once a year.

I wouldn't use DVDs on the system anymore. The DVD drive on the PS2 is notorious for breaking unless it is a 5001 model. If I were you I'd get a network adaptor and a hard drive and then never use the disc drive again. It's the only way to keep the system alive.

I would definitely recommend a quick dusting of the innards and especially a dust off of the laser lens.. I had similar problem and worked out great didn't have problem till about a year or so ago with DVD drive..

I remember a report a while back saying early PS2 models don't get along with movie DVDs and tend to break. I cleaned my bros out for him and he got another year out of his launch model

well then it decided. i wont use it for dvd movies and i know this is alittle noobish for me to ask but i have never cleaned out the system. i would unscrew the case right?
