Resident Evil just isn't Resident Evil anymore if RE5 is an indication of the shape of things to come. Didn't someone at Capcom say they were planning to reboot the franchise?

Yeah. The creator said 6 will be a reboot.

*TYRANT BUST THROUGH THE WALL*
"OH SHIIIT!"
yeah it used to have cheap thrills, RE5 so far, no scares its just a intense game

Re: Resetting Resident Evil
I'll probably get lynched for this, but I haven't played any of the RE games.
Which one(s) should I start with?
Which one(s) should I start with?
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more
Re: Resetting Resident Evil
It depends. If you like crappy controls and rubbish inventory systems with abstract puzzles then start with 1. If you like more action with your tank controls play nemesis. If you just like action games start with 4.

Re: Resetting Resident Evil
Warning, warning, incoming rant, I just can't stay in denial anymore about how much RE 5 sucks
Funny thing is, not only does RE 5 offer absolutely nothing to bring back people who didn't like RE 4's style change, but it's also a step backwards from RE 4 in almost every conceivable way. This makes it pretty much a dissapointment for EVERYONE. Crappy new inventory system, no merchant, upgrading weaponry is too easy now, you can plow through higher difficulties with all your powerful gear on the first go, the horrible new records screen that permanently remembers your deaths to drive perfectionists insane, the new settings and enemies aren't as creepy as RE4(seeing a big half naked guy with a tribal mask somehow survive multiple grenades by putting his arms up is just plain ridiculous), Chris and Sheva are very boring compared to Leon and Ada, none of the characters are even as cool as Luis was, shitty new melee attacks(Chris' attacks are all pathetic compared to what Leon could pull off in RE4), no attachments for weapons anymore, you can't combine treasures for more money anymore, the shooting gallery mini-game is gone, levels are less inspired with fewer surprises than in RE 4, the game is shorter, QTE sequences suck because they come at you less frequently making them feel out of place and the onscreen icons for them are smaller and give you less reaction time, too many elements are copied from RE4(oh look, the cave troll again. apparently killing four of them in RE 4 wasn't enough)and then there is the cheap Pro difficulty setting. As an attempt to compensate for the broken system that allows players to new game plus right into higher difficulty setting, they made Pro a one-hit kill mode(though I suppose some of you might like that). Doesn't help that you can't upgrade your health at all like in RE 4 making herb collecting useless.
Oh, but wait, we have co-op. Gee I guess that makes up for the fifty things they TOOK OUT OF THE DAMN GAME!
This is the laziest fucking sequel I've ever seen. It's not even as intense as the E3 2007 trailer made it out to be
The more I play RE5, the less I like it. I tried defending it early on but I'm not going to bother anymore. I can admit when I'm wrong. It's definitely the worst game they put out in the main RE line and I think even RE 4 haters would have to admit that it was better than RE 5 turned out.

Re: Resetting Resident Evil
You gotta admit though. While almost everyone is whining about how much Resident Evil changed, everyone is still buying the game.
Capcom- "Hmm, lets turn the Resident Evil series into an action game."
RE *Fans*- "I hate you! Here's $60."
Capcom- "And here's your video game."
RE *Fans*- "OMG, this sucks! When is RE 6?"
Err... Something like that.
Anyways, I'm free from this hypocrisy since as far as I'm concerned RE just keeps getting better every time they make a sequel(Except personally RE4 was the best of all time)!
