The General does not mince and pander to other countries, tells it like it is. Diplomacy belongs to the Secretary of the State and Politicians, winning an entrenched war belongs to the General.
Trump really enjoying talking to the crowd. Man, that speech was no Reagan, but did bring some great impact especially to the rust belt.

On prfsnl_gmr's points about farm subsidies, I have mixed feelings on this issue. There are good reasons for farm subsidies under certain economic conditions.
1.) We need to keep food production within our own country as a matter of national security. I don't think we want to be in a position where we depend on imports for food because the threat of being cutoff from a food supply would put as at a severe disadvantage as a country.
2.) We need to keep food prices down because everyone needs to eat.
3.) Farming needs to be a desirable job so that we still have farmers in the US. They need a good wage, and they need to have some protection against crop destruction from uncontrollable natural events like droughts, floods, and freezes.
It seems like subsidies are rewarding the wrong things. The market has also become so accustomed to cheap subsidized corn, that we now have high fructose corn syrup in everything because it has become such an inexpensive ingredient, which basically means we are paying taxes to fund our own national problem with diabetes.
On the manufacturing jobs, yes automation has reduced the number of workers; been like that since the first production line many many decades ago. Some workers have to be available to service the machines that took their jobs.
However, many plants have closed and moved to Mexico and other countries with cheaper production costs, with NAFTA making the move even more enticing to greedy corporations. I say bring on the tariffs, we as consumers already preorder and willing to pay for the newest gadget; so put that money back into "Made in America" jobs.
Protect The Farms - Unfair Commission
A National Security very good point on protecting our food supply. On the other hand, no business should get a preferential handout no matter if meant for good; EVERYONE really needs to pay their share of taxes so others are not stuck with a higher tax bill. The way to control prices and jobs is do not reward selected businesses to create a monopoly. Open Free Market in JUST our country should really mean something. Same as manufacturing, bring on the Tariffs for unequal import trade!
You are not kidding on the corn syrup, wow so true! Cheaper then sugar and main contributor to Diabetes! So we subsidize the corn and pay more treatment thru the Health Care!
