The event ends tomorrow night at 00:00 UTC, which means around 7:00 for us Eastern folks.

Was able to pop a lucky egg before the event ends tomorrow and got to level 26! Today was a balmy 54 degrees today so Roz and I went for a long walk through the downtown area and dominated the gyms with my recently beefed up team. Secured 4 gyms. Definitely my biggest haul today. One gym had a rhyhorn that had over 3000cp but when I fought it, it only had 2500. Weird. Luckily it was on my team so maybe it will scare people off. Fingers crossed!

Also finally evolved my gyrados and GOT ......twister. ahh well, those types of moves are nore helpful when playing defense in gyms. We'll see. Today I will be heading out to visit my brother in the middle of nowhere with a gym immediately next door, so I will throw him in there and see how he does.

Twister isn't all that powerful, but it's used by defending Gyarados OFTEN, a lot more than any 3 or 4 charge meter attack I've seen.

I did my final action for double XP week with a mass evolve. Picked up near 120K XP! I also obtained a Clefable (Pound/Psychic), Dugtrio (Mud Slap/Earthquake), and Rhydon (Rock Smash/Earthquake). I also evolved my 100% IV Goldeen to Seaking with Poison Jab/Drill Run, not bad.

The 'dex is now at 123 caught/133 seen, including those 2 regional exclusives I came across.

25 now, just from doing a few little things.

My Gyardos has the Bite/Twister combo. I thought it was crap but as you said it appears to be commonly used for fairly solid defense. Probably since it fast charges you can use the hitter more often than a big bar blast. My raging sea beast is just CP1711 so it won't be doing any guard duty anytime soon.

It's with 112HP currently - decent, atk strong, wow - that's it. Seems it can bite a bit harder.

Remember that Bite is a Dark-type attack, which is great against Psychic types, so my Arcanine (currently in gym) is the perfect Exeggutor killer with Bite/Flamethrower, it goes up against the Grass/Psychic type well!

I'm putting this here to say that I did it, 10 gyms held at one time tonight! (as of right now, still in 8 of them)

Good point with bite. My arcanine is a screwball build in that it has no fire moves but has a dark one and another from a different class. Someone seeing it will plan to go in fire proofed and end up getting roached. I've held gyms with it for awhile before the % switch up and haven't tried since as my Snorlax and Jolteons got major boosts and both have held onto stuff well(old sparky was quite surprising on that.)

Bite on Gyarados will also work against Exeggutors on defense.

I still had those 8 gyms today, VERY surprising since 1) the Rhydon was in one of the two high traffic park gyms and 2) for the first time since September I had to use a Flareon for a gym, but I've seen a lot more Flareons in gyms these days, because they got a nice boost with the CP update and if you got a high number it fits well in the middle of a gym. They're still easy to take down, no matter what the CP, my 1200CP Starmie still destroys them with minimal damage taken.

I lost one of the trail gyms Monday morning and Fluffball fell again later that afternoon. So when I woke up early on Tuesday I figured it was a sign from the Poke gods and I got ready and made a quick trip out there to reinstate my guard dog.

I was prepared to fight off someone, but when I got there the Gym was empty. So whoever it was that kicked us out is either messing with us, or got scared off by the workers hanging around. Whatever, I put Fluffball back in there regardless, so now I'm back up to 50 coins a day.

Let us see how long that lasts...

The pokéstops appearing for nearby pokémon update rolled out here this morning. It seems cool, though I haven't seen anything much useful to test it yet.

I did see one pokémon on my radar I felt was worth a detour though, and the nearby pokéstop feature helped me find it super quickly - there are pokéstops every 50 yards or so here, so I could almost exactly pinpoint where it would be thanks to this update.

The pokémon in question was my 2nd Porygon. I got my first one very early on, and it only had 13 CP. This one, thanks to the stat adjustments in the recent update, is an almost maxed out 1000+ monster.

If the rumoured update for 2nd gen pokémon being added this month is true, Porygon is going to be in hot demand - he evolves in gen 2.

In fact, in case you guys need it - here's a list of pokémon who you want to try and stockpile candies for in the case of a gen 2 update:

Zubat - Golbat can evolve into Crobat
Oddish - Gloom can evolve into 2 different pokémon in gen 2 - Vileplume and Bellossom
Poliwag - Poliwhirl can evolve into 2 different pokémon in gen 2 - Poliwrath and Politoed
Slowpoke - Slowpoke can evolve into 2 different pokémon in gen 2 - Slowbro and Slowking
Onix - Onix can evolve into Steelix
Chansey - Chansey can evolve into Blissey
Horsea - Seadra can evolve into Kingdra
Scyther - Scyther can evolve into Scizor
Eevee - Eevee can evolve into 2 new pokémon - Espeon and Umbreon
Porygon - Porygon can evolve into Porygon 2

Some other pokémon also have new unevolved forms - I assume they'll add new mechanics for these

Pichu evolves into Pikachu
Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff
Cleffa evolves into Clefairy
Magby evolves into Magmar
Elekid evolves into Electabuzz
Smoochum evolves into Jynx
Tyrogue evolves into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or new pokémon Hitmontop

It's a shame some of these new pokémon to evolve are stupedously rare - I'm a long way off from a potential Scizor or Porygon 2 if the update is real, and I don't even have a single Chansey yet!

EDIT: Oh hey, just found a 3rd Porygon. Maybe they've upped the encounter rate?

Thanks for the Gen 2 list AJ. With all the rampant speculation about when they're going to introduce it, it may only be a matter of time. The only thing definite about the news, it was found in the code for the game.

Yes, the new tracker rolled out for the rest of the United States (including us on the east coast) and the rest of Europe. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but here where I'm sitting I have two stops about a half mile away, and one reports a Rattata from time to time. I'm just hoping that it isn't limited to the stops, that if there's no stops nearby we can still get the "Sightings" feature.

But with my latest gym shifting, I got another 8 bonus today. I think this 8 bonus may stick around for a little while, if not the next few days.
