Not so far, but there's still time. I'll let you know.

The first time I tried playing BG was back in 2001... I didn't make it very far. My attention span was lacking at that time.

Then in 2010, I gave it another shot. I ended up putting over 30 hours into it. I really, really enjoyed building up my party and exploring all the badlands around Baldur's Gate city. I was obsessed with filling in all my maps. But finally, when I did actually reach Baldur's Gate... my interested fizzled. I found the city to be boring, and whatever impetus the plot may have had at that time no longer existed for me. So, I stopped playing it. I really, REALLY regret not just finishing it up then and there. I probably had five more hours left to go.

But anyway, the OG Baldur's Gate is a legit solid CRPG. A lot of people are turned off by low level D&D stuff, and prefer games where you start off with higher level characters. But I didn't mind beating on rats and bandits and such. As someone who used to play D&D in real life, I found the interpretation of it in Baldur's Gate to be not half bad.

Yep, that's a Xumy game alright. 8)

For my part, I may have made a horrible mistake. I have started up Baldur's Gate, by way of the Baldur's Gate Trilogy mod (BG in BGII engine), and with the widescreen patch.

My main character is an Inquisitor Paladin, with stats of 18/00, 18, 18, 11, 13, 17. Picked up a tome of Charisma, so now that's 18. I'm starting to feel the vibe I had with Pillars of Eternity, which is something I would have expected at some point. That may mean I'll finish it off. My only concern is that the game is a massive time sink.
Good choice doing BGT. It makes the original BG experience better (the other option is to do the EEs) since it's on the BG2 engine which makes a lot of playability tweaks, and also gives you access to the extra classes.

I see you also decided to play a normal character, rather than doing something like Fighter->Magic User dual.

Tower of the 12 stars now :D Looks like I might be beating this weekend, hopefully ^_^

Edit: Beat that, and the general(in 2 days I might add so I got the bonus). I think i'm going to need to grind a bit though. I love how 22 hours in and it mixes up the gameplay a little. That litteraly blew my mind a bit. Games I've played up to this point don't really do that. My only quelm is that I wish there was more mob variety. That really works my nerves at this point. But I gotta grind before I take on the sky piece again...

Well, it seems like I have simply set Eye of the Beholder 2 aside. I just couldn't keep my attention focused on it, and truth be told I haven't played an RPG in a month outside of some Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, and that's not an RPG, it's an FPS with heavy action RPG elements.

As for what I have been playing, well....

Yeah, I just like the idea of being able to cast Dispel at twice my character's level to squash mages. :) And the idea of wielding the Holy Avenger sword.

I do hear that the fighter-mage combos are quite powerful. I actually read a ton about the classes years ago. I think I actually got more entertainment out of reading build strategies at the time than I did actually playing the games!

Unfortunately, it's on hold for right now, since I've gotten hooked by Rise of the Tomb Raider. It's really, really good. And the tombs are actually significant this time around! I figure I'll be able to finish it off tonight, then I have to decide if I'm going back to BGT or playing another one of the new games I've gotten. :)

The Fighter-Mage duals are so good because the balance in AD&D was terrible. A few levels of fighter gave you access to the proficiencies you needed to hit stuff and a good chunk of health, and then you got to layer on all the mage stuff. Mages are much more level dependent than fighters, so dumping the majority of your levels into mage was the way to go. Plus, the experience curve is so crazy that getting those fighter levels ends up reducing your eventual mage level by 1 at worst.

Beat Tales of Phantasia a couple years ago. It's a tough, but good RPG.

Anyways, been playing some Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam since I picked it up from Target on Sunday. About a couple hours into the game, and I made it to Toad Village and rustled up some Paper Toads.

Kind of just stopped 30 hours into the Witcher 3.

Open world fatigue.

The story and characters definitely seem awesome. And the quality of the game is insanely high class. Nothing about it feels like plastic, like Ubisoft or Bethesda stuff. The characters stand out so much more and the cutscenes just work better on a technical level.

But yeah still doesn't change the fact that there's a thousand icons on several maps and I have a list of 50 some quests. I just don't have the patience or interest in this kind of design thesedays.

Might just chip away at it.

Excited for FFXV and hope it's more guided and focused since it sounds like it. And I hope Zelda Breath of the Wild can pull it off too.

Not trying to be an asshole, but FFXV does do the whole open world quest markers on a map thing:
