What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I went and saw Arrival on friday. It was quite good.

Just finished the last two Harry Potter films:

A fitting end to a great film franchise...
Oh, wait. There's the Fantastic Beasts film and its four sequels. And more than likely an adaptation of Cursed Child.
I also watched the made-for-TV movie based on Legends of the Hidden Temple last night. Clearly just a nostalgia cash-in, but a decent one. Would rather see a revival of the game show it's based on.

liked Amazing Spider-Man 2, but not as much as the first. The ending was handled well, though. I'm bummed that the whole Spidey franchise was canned as I would have liked seeing the Sinister Six and Venom spin-offs. But in fairness, I haven't seen Civil War yet, so maybe the MCU deal was a good thing anyway.

Spider-Man was a very small part of Civil War, but I quite liked the actor they chose and the scenes he was in.

Nice. Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check my "giant box of grindhouse kung fu films" to see if I have a copy.ExedExes wrote:Seven Steps of Kung Fu

Watched Apocalypse Now yesterday and it was incredible.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Went to see Moana this weekend. I thought it was excellent. It's the usual heart-warming Disney tale packed with comedy, action and maybe a tear or two. The visuals were also marvelous. They keep getting more and more impressive with every subsequent film. There's a point in the film when Moana washes up on the beach and is covered in sticky wet sand and it looked so real that my brain checked out of the movie to go "Damn that looks good." I'm sure everyone who enjoys Disney animated musicals will like it.
Also of note is there is no love interest or typical anamorphic animal sidekick. There is a chicken, his name is Heihei, but he is neither wisecracking (cause he can't speak cause he's, you know, a chicken) or particularly bright. He's just there to add some comedic levity to the film with his incredible lack of survival skills. Moana is mostly a straight-up Hero's Journey, which is a nice change of pace from it's usual musical fare.
The only other thing I can think to add is that I read in a couple reviews that a certain song will likely replace "Let it Go" as the current Disney musical earworm. I can't say that I agree with that and I'm thinking that may just be some reviewers wishful thinking. While the music is excellent (I dig the native tribal beats) I'm not sure if any of them reaches the catchy-ness of previous films. So if some of you with young'uns were hoping to replace a certain soundtrack with something new, I'm thinking you may be waiting a bit longer. If so, you have my sympathies.

Yes. You don't ask them to stop listening to the Frozen soundtrack. It simply disappears one night while they are sleeping. (That said...Frozen is a boss movie, and Let It Go is the best song in any Disney musical. You can still only listen to it so many times, however.)
