PC build thread
Re: PC build thread
If I were to do a similar build, what would y'all recommend? Part of me wants to, and the other part just wants to be lazy. I really only want to do it if I can get a significant cost advantage.

Generally speaking, you will probably not see a significant cost advantage by building your own PC. Computer sellers already mass produce pre-made computers with razor-thin profit margins. What small savings you see will probably be negated by the shipping cost.Sarge wrote:If I were to do a similar build, what would y'all recommend? Build your own PC if you find it fun or satisfying (or if you just want to be the only guy in the world with your particular PC), but don't build your own 'cause you want to save money. You'll only set yourself up for frustration.

Re: PC build thread
For gaming how big (if any) of a performance jump can you see for DDR4 from DDR3? I bought my ram back in 2013, Corsair Vengeance and was considering buying some new ram if it's worthwhile since I ordered a new WD 6TB Black drive too. Looking at these. (are the pins the same? Maybe the image is just flipped).
Googling around guess it maybe doesn't sound that worth it for now. I've got 16GB now, maybe I can get one set of these DDR4's and leave the other two DDR3's for 24GB.
