Yes, the first day of double XP has proven well for me. The streak bonus being doubled is nice, and I love seeing the screen full of items at the 7th day Pokéstop. No Ditto yet, but I'm quickly realizing how much of a waste of balls it is manually catching Pidgeys and Rattatas again. I've been using the Go Plus so much lately.

I too am pleased with the electric buffs. My best 1100 Jolteon is now above 1400. Electabuzz and Electrode also got boosts.

I did get enough candy for my Clefairy to finally evolve, but I'm not doing that until the next to last day of this event. A major Lucky Egg x4 spree means Level 27 is definitely mine since I'm around 80K left to go on it. Graveler is my new buddy now (1km/candy, and he's got about 80 to go)

They put a nice boost on that mageneton I have, may have to use it, same with Gengar. I do agree though, Graveler is a solid choice as it's one of the few really early basic pokemon from gen1 that used to suck bad but got a big boost (geodude, graveler, golem) so they're not a joke.

The big news I've seen is the increase to those in the Rock class. I'm seeing a LOT more Rhydon in gyms now. With the Stone Edge attack, he's far tougher than before.

I'm also getting double stardust for the Gyms I hold everyday (6 now, but it will probably roll back to 5 soon), so that's nice.

Despite all the criticism with the CP changes, I found this site explains it better. It does give a boost to the electric types for a good reason, and those like Gengar you mentioned, another one I'm seeing more of in gyms now.

I saw that it was gyms yesterday too. Rolled by one with an open slot so I stuffed my 1950 snorlax in there and cashed out fast. Found one that had another snorlax alone and ranked to lv3. Hes no longer in there now though as I figured as much.

Rock getting a boost is nice and all, but it's an awful awful choice for gyms. Weak to Vaporeon, Gyarados, Exeggutor, Slowbro, Lapras, Poliwrath, Vileplume, Machamp, other Rhydon and Golem - basically anything worth using is good against rock.

When I was training a gym the other day, I knew of Rock's weakness to Water, but this gym had a Vaporeon followed by a Rhydon, and I had used an Exeggutor to beat the Vaporeon, and he had a charged up Solarbeam ready to go, so I thought "let's try Solarbeam on this Rhydon" and when it said Super Effective I forgot Grass works well against Rock too

It's weak to Fighting, Steel, Ground, Water and Grass. It's the type with the most weaknesses, alongside Grass (weak to flying, bug, ice, poison, fire). The difference is that all of the good pokémon have moves good against rock, whereas the weaknesses of grass are both less common and have less powerful representatives.

I wish I understood grass being effective against rock.

It does seem odd. Water definitely, it erodes rock. I mean I could see where a large tree could take root in some dirt in a crack in a rock and widen it as you see that but it's a stretch. :)

I hope you are all out there taking advantage of double dust & XP. I sure am!

I started by smartly using a Lucky Egg before my 7-day streak stop & catch. 30K XP for that! Which leads to -
Image]
BUT, as I had 8 Pokémon in gyms last night, hoping for a record setting collection time, this also happened -
Image
It turned out the church that I was the gym leader in for the past 2 weeks was struck down overnight by the Mystics. GRR! Plus, my gyms out near the gulf weren't looking too good due to the out-of-town tourists knocking them down a few levels this weekend more than likely, so I went out to one of them today.
Image]
I trained it back to Level 9. Here's to hoping my Vaporeon (now 2043 after buffs when I get him back) can last another week or two.
Image
Also when I was out there, I caught a new one! Crappy CP, of course.
Image
On the way back, I noticed that the gym I was kicked out of this morning was back in our hands, so after a bit of powering up, guess who's back?
Image
Finally, you all saw that I spotted a Kangaskhan (Australia exclusive Pokémon) a few months back, now THIS gets added to my 'dex, and I've seen this guy in other gyms, I guarantee he didn't travel to get this!
Image
I've got a lot of sorting out and evolutions coming up before this event ends! I hope I'll get even more XP towards level 28!
