Is this your first time through Breath of Fire? Because if it is, keep an eye on Karn; he's going to become one of your best party members.
SNES and GBA combined...... this is probably my fifth time through the game. Been playing it since 1997 or so. I remember the mega Karn transformation.

I enjoy the sequel but it's a bit too massive for my liking, especially with all that town building.

Tales of Phantasia: *sigh* I wandered into Moria and I think I've actually managed to get lost. Not in the literal sense because I know how to get out, more the "I don't know what I'm doing to get to the next level down". I've done just about everything I've been able to find so far...might see if i missed something along the way. Which looks to be some kind of switch since I can't figure it out at this point.

Stats: Cless 19, Mint 18, Klarth 18, Arche 16(the heck? even adjusted party formation and she's died a few times...life bottles help but dang...). Gold: 14037(started at 4k when I entered...so many battles...)

Trails of Cold steel: redone up to aurochs and everyone is sitting just below lvl 20. Hopefully going to beat the dogs tommorrow....

Tales: just beat Ifrit....expected that to be harder than it was. Was pretty easy compared to gnome who was just a pain in the rump. Now off to Undine

Well, Breath of Fire is done.

Just in time to play the sequel!..... For November 2017 Together Retro.

Will I play another RPG this year? Eh, unlikely. December is lookin' busy.

The itch to replay FF4-6 is getting very severe.

I've beaten most versions of FF4. Funny enough my first one was the Chronicles hard type which was awesome. I actually like the PSP face lift though (really wish FF3 got that treatment, maybe even FF5 too). I feel like the original release on the SNES has a rough translation? Can't remember. The GBA version was weird, but that and the PSP one have the ATB bug so they're pretty easy. There's a lot to love about FF4's simplicity, so it's consistently been amazingly fun whenever I go back and replay it. Zero complaints. Even feels like it has potential to be my favorite.

FF5 I've only beaten once and it was the GBA version. Like we were talking recently, I'd love to get through the SNES translated version sometime. I predict FF5 being one of the best ones to go back and replay because the job system lends itself well to experimentation. Kind of like Seiken Densetsu 3 which I love to play over and over.

It has been quite awhile since I played FF6 by this point. Still the one I've probably beaten the most, but dang... it's been awhile. It's always too easy so I plan to limit magic to only Terra, Celes, and the old blue mage guy. I think it'll be pretty fun and more challenging this way.

Maybe I'll just play them all like I did one summer with FF2-5.

I've been meaning to pickup Final Fantasy IV on the WonderSwan Color.

I got the Steam version of VI recently and it looks..... questionable. I'm scared that if I play it I'll get halfway through and say "shit, I shoulda just replayed this on SNES instead."

Given that the new Pokemon just came out, I thought, "what better time to start up Yokai Watch?" :P

It's really fun so far! It's like real-time Pokemon where your entire team fights at once. It's pretty hectic, really, but I'm really loving everything about the gameplay and presentation so far! I can see why it's so popular :)

I've beaten FFV at least 15 times. The trick to getting the good replay value is to do challenge runs, like the Fiesta runs. And it makes you realize just how hilariously breakable the game's mechanics are if you know what you're doing.

I'll save you the heartache and tell you right now that you shoulda just replayed it on the SNES instead.

And in the same night beat Undine, and Maxwell. Which man I hate his molecular attack. I'm going to have to figure out how to get out of there. I traced my steps back to the torch room and the warp spot that led me up once before is gone now. So back to square one on trying to get out of moria....Playing the SFC translated on retron5 fyi

That's why they grin fearlessly!
I vaguely remembered this quote and was waiting for it throughout the game. Turns out the second-to-last boss does the grinning.

Now the Goddess herself? She's "intrigued."
