Was Sin & Punishment ever planned for the Dreamcast?

Post by Original_Name »

I know that Bangai-O had once been an N64 exclusive that was released in small numbers until Treasure decided to give it a larger release on the Dreamcast, but what about Sin & Punishment? It was released under similar circumstances, but I've never heard plans of a Dreamcast re-release. Does anyone know if such a thing was ever considered or actually planned?

Yeah, I didn't think so, but it just seemed strange to me that both Bangai-O and Sin & Punishment were low-print N64 games by Treasure and only one got ported.

I'll tell you what was planned for the Dreamcast--it being awesome.

Mission accomplished.

I doubt it, as Sin & Punishment was developed for Nintendo (they published it, and own the rights to the franchise, hence a character from it making an appearance in Smash Bros Brawl, and they're publishing the Wii sequel). Some franchises Treasure own all to them selves, and others are owned by whoever published them (like Sega with Gunstar Heroes).

Ah, well I didn't know they owned the rights to it... makes it all the more odd Sin & Punishment had such a small release, considering how starved the N64 was for decent exclusives.

And I didn't know that about Gunstar Heroes... if that's the case, how come Sega never includes it in any of its classic collections? I was under the impression that it hadn't been included on the Genesis and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collections because of copyright issues, or something. If that's not the case, then there's really no excuse.

Well they did make a Sega Ages collection for PS2 in japan that contains Gunstar, Dynamite Headdy and Alien Soilder, and there's rumors floating about that Gunstar will arrive on XBLA and PSN soon. Not sure why it wasn't on Ultimate Collection, though, considering Dynamite Headdy was.
