This is where I will probably end up for the year:
prfsnl_gmr wrote:Complete my Atari 7800, PS3, and Xbox 360 collections. I still need 10 games for the Atari 7800 and 16 games for the PS3. I polished off my Xbox 360 collection, however.

Complete my collection of digital games for the Xbox 360. Not even close. I expanded my want list, and I now need 13 games to complete this digital collection.

Complete two more sub-sets of Atari 2600 games. Crushed it. This was an easy one.

Photograph my game collections. I will have a bona fide game room next year. I'll photograph my collection then.

Beat ten classic games on my "to beat" list. Thanks, Summer Games Challenge!

Beat all of the games created by at least one "auteur" game designer. I have now completed every game by Tomorrow Corporation and every game by Daisuke Amaya.

Beat all of the retail 2D platformers available for the Wii U. I beat a lot of Wii U platformers, just not many retail ones.

Beat five adventure games. I actually accomplished this, beating: Attack of the Friday Monsters!, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, Finding Teddy, Grim Fandango, and The Room 1-3.

Beat The Seventh Saga. Yeah...about that...

Beat a game in the King's Field series I beat King's Field: The Ancient City. I loved it, and I will definitely be playing more of From Software's first-person ARPGs.
5 out of 10 isn't too bad!

Nice! Better than I could say about mine. I'd really like to beat a few games before the end of the year but I'm not sure how that's going to happen. Especially since I keep seeing the "hate seeing a game end" come out in me and it sucks so much. I love playing games but hate seeing them end...
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

I started Gameboy Advance collecting this year! I have about 10 games now. It's like a SNES 2! I don't know how I ignored it for so long.

You accomplished the most important goal, so good job in my book!

Taking a peek at my list from earlier this year...

Exhuminator's 2016 goals:

1. Beat at least two ONE more Vita game.
2. Beat at least three 3DS games.
3. Finish the rest of From Software's first person dungeon crawls.
4. Beat Front Mission 5.
5. Beat at least two GameCube games.

I had not updated this list since I beat Gal*Gun for Vita, so I only need to beat one more Vita game to accomplish my 2016 goals. I'm planning on hitting up Ys VIII after I finish Arc the Lad, so that'll take care of that.

The hardest things to accomplish on the list where 3 & 4. Three was hard because I had to beat King's Field III: Pilot Style, King's Field III, Shadow Tower, and Shadow Tower Abyss all in one year. Something I did do, but it took a bite out of my ass for sure. King's Field III especially was a monster of a challenge, but good fun. Front Mission 5 was extraordinarily challenging, far more difficult than the previous four Front Missions. It might have helped if I'd used a strategy guide, but I'm just too manly stubborn for that. Someday I hope somebody else beats Front Mission 5 around here, so we can share war stories.

Anyway I think I'll have this list complete after all, barring any catastrophes. I did better here then I did on my (overly ambitious) summer games list... of which I only finished half of. But at least I finished that many.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I did not do so well with my goals this year whoops. Thinking about it, they were pretty awful goals, so I guess that was to be expected. I can't find my post, but it was something like:

1. Beat 12 RPGs - Not too bad of a goal I guess, but I forgot that school makes this really difficult. I did beat 8 though, so I guess I didn't do too bad regardless.

2. Buy 10 Steam games or fewer - Didn't work out at all and I should of figured that it wouldn't be a good goal for me haha.

I really need to think of some better goals for next year  I do want to see if I can play some more classic RPGs, but I'll have to think about how many and which ones ha.

1. Get a Wii U.
2. Get Xenoblade Chronicles X, King's Quest, Killer Instinct Season 3, Tekken 7, FFXV.
3. Get the PS3 to Xbox One & PS3 to PS4 Brooks converters for my arcade stick.
4. Get the last few Sega Saturn fighters that I want.
5. Get my spare PVM fixed. The image is bowing at the top and I can't correct it with the service menu.
6. Get into the TG16/PC-Engine scene.
7. As always, put a dent in the backlog.
I didn't do too badly this year. Tekken 7 wasn't released so I can't be blamed for that one. I didn't get any Sega Saturn fighters and TG16/PC-Engine is still on the back burner.

I didn't get my PVMs fixed either. I just couldn't find anyone that was willing to put some actual work into them. I sold the one that was having the bowing issue and I am pretty sure that I will put that money into a Nintendo Switch and some launch titles. I'm seriously considering getting rid of my other PVM when I am able to get my hands on an OSSC.

Final results!
alienjesus wrote:1. Focus my buying by using a list of my most wanted games for each platform, instead of just buying things as and when I think about it.
Not really. I bought way too much. I DID get a lot of stuff from this list... I just got a lot of other stuff too.

2. For every series I own 2 or more unbeaten games for, beat at least 1 game in that series. As of the start of January, this includes:
Age of Empires Nope
Atelier Working on it
Danganronpa Nope
Dragon Quest Yup!
Fire Emblem Yup!
Final Fantasy Nope
Harvest Moon Nope
Kingdom Hearts Nope
Mario & Luigi Nope
Mario Golf Nope
Prinny Yup!
Shinobi Nope
Sonic the Hedgehog Yes
Valis Yup!
Wave Race Nope
Ys Yup!
Zelda Yup!

Only managed a few of these in the end.

3. Beat at least one game for every major console I own. Exceptions for more obscure consoles like Pokemon Mini.
So far: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy, GBA, DS, 3DS, Master System, Mega Drive, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, Vita, PS1, PS3, PC Engine, NGPC, Virtual Boy, PC
To go: Wii, GBC, Game Gear, PS2, PS4, PSP, 3DO, Pokémon Mini

Not too bad on this one - I didn't manage all of them, but I did play games over a wide selection of consoles.

4. Finish the year with less unbeaten games than I started the year with. This isn't a big objective necessarily, but I plan on buying quite a lot this year, so it'll require me to finish quite a lot of stuff.
I finished the year with almost 100 extra unbeaten games. This was an utter failure

5. Try and keep my game spending to less than £100 on average per month.
Nope.

2016 was without a doubt the worst year of my life, personally.

2016 was without a doubt the best of my life, gaming wise.

The nice thing about being depressed for most of the year is that all I wanted to do was spend time in my room playing games alone and that is exactly what I did. I made +22 Progress this year which was my best year to date.

I never did get under 100 Unfinished Games, but I am very close to that happening!
