Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
In all seriousness, the Mega Drive cart turned out to be much more expensive than I anticipated. Good thing the game is also included on Sega compilations. I enjoy it a bunch myself.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Another shitty PC port for Dishonored 2. Avoid this one for now guys, unless you want something that has a worse framerate than Goldeneye 64.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Did the first Dishonored have any issues on PC? This seems like a surprising one to me, considering the team and the fact that they sit under the Bethesda publishing umbrella (that is the right way to put that, correct?). Though, if sales were heavier on the console side of things, they might have focused their work there and ignored PC.

Which makes me want to ask, didn't Harvey Smith learn from his mistakes after Invisible War? Which was entirely console focused, engine wise and all.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Did the first Dishonored have any issues on PC? I didn't play Dishonored on PC when it was new, but saw a friend play it and it looked phenomenal. Since then when I go back to it now on PC myself, the game just runs and plays like perfection. So yeah, this makes the case with 2 extra shocking to me. I wasn't too surprised that Mankind Divided was a little shaky, but I thought for sure Dishonored 2 would be guaranteed to play nicely at release. Who knew it'd be way worse and legit unplayable to me for now. Mankind Divided just seemed a bit more demanding than it needed to be, kind of like Metro 2033 or something.
Just seriously one of my biggest disappointments of the year. Not sure if I'll go for the Steam refund, hoping they will patch it soon and remedy everything. And I'm busy with Titanfall 2 and other games... but yeah. Still very frustrating and surprising.
What makes it even more confusing is that I think their Void Engine is based on some idTech, and the new Doom runs like a dream on both PC and consoles. But maybe it's dated idTech and whatever modifications they did weren't good. Ugh...
Fallout 4 was better off on PC. So I guess it seems completely random with Bethesda's quality control.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I decided to pick up the "Blinking Light Win" replacement pins instead of the NES Mini for the holidays and I'm glad I did, it's fantastic. My NES didn't even worth this well when it was new.
This is not a paid endorsement, it's just a solid product. I'm amazed nobody thought of doing it sooner.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That is honestly one of the best ideas I've seen yet though. Especially since it looks like it completely eliminates the factor of pins wearing down from that weird push down it originally had. I'll admit I'm intrigued and it's definitely on my bookmark list for now....
Edit: Also saw this pop up somewhere:

That is the strangest combo I can think of but not surprised at all...

*sigh* I'm not even surprised anymore. For how long it feels like they've been working on this title I hope it's game of the year. This game has had a wild dev cycle and I wonder how many people are losing faith that big N will ever release it. Seriously, they announced it back in 2013 and won't be released until next year. That's at least 4 years but i think they've been working on it even longer than that from the way it feels at this point...

I really wish composer Jun Ishikawa wasn't so tied down to Kirby for his entire career. Both Arcana and Alcahest on the SNES have god tier soundtracks and he does the serious style so well. Such a huge "what could have been"...

Lest we forget Hyperzone? Holy cow! Go to 12:13 and 14:03!Xeogred wrote:I really wish composer Jun Ishikawa wasn't so tied down to Kirby for his entire career. Both Arcana and Alcahest on the SNES have god tier soundtracks and he does the serious style so well. Such a huge "what could have been"...

Gotta throw some Second Armageddon action in here.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I missed out on the Shantae releases from Limited Run.
There are so many copies on ebay, all sealed (and at huge prices) that it seems many people bought the games solely to resell them.
Nothing new of course, and I'm not knocking these folks, but it makes me kinda sad when there's seemingly more enthusiasm for selling a thing than enjoying it for what it is.
It also makes me feel like a dipshit because I still want them, even at those resale prices.
