Ninty is making more of these right? I have several relatives wanting to buy these for Christmas gifts, but were unable to get them.

No doubt. Letting the first batch sell out fast is a classic Nintendo marketing tactic. They want the consumer to believe that this product is "rare" so the consumer is more prone to make an impulse purchase next time they see the Nintendo product for sale.

I had actually been wondering about that one myself, how real do you want it? Back in the day many would sit at a cords length a good 6+ feet from the system. You'd have to get up to change a game or hit reset.

True, but beyond using the Reset button to swap games, you also need to use it for save states. While, granted, those weren't a thing back in the day, it does create more of a reason to park the system near the player now. At least for some titles.

I do think that being able to extend one of the controllers could wind up being nice for multiplayer though, depending on the room.

See but in the same regard why not put the reset on a modified controller for it? Seems like it'd be beneficial to be there instead and give people the length for it. Though honestly I'm tempted to pick up the controller and use it for wii/wii u

Still it's strange when the original was 6ft with the controller cord. I know there's a difference between us and them in size constraints but it seems weird not to adjust lengths for american audiences...

Try a Wii classic controller pro. The cord is about six inches longer, and rumor has it the home button will serve as the reset button on the NES mini.

Seriously though, that's why I suggested a long HDMI cable. I was thinking of a Japanese Kotatsu. My Sega Genesis was on my coffee table back in the day because it came with three foot controller cables and a ten foot rf cable. I didn't know what a kotatsu was at the time, but setting my console on the coffee table seemed like the obvious answer.

I think one would also need an extra long USB cable as well, unless parking the console near an outlet.

As for electricity to the NES mini, you can just plug it in anywhere. There's no law saying that the console has to be plugged into the same outlet as the TV set. You can use any electrical extension cord or power strip if need be. Yes, a longer USB cord would do the trick, but I bet you can find an electrical extension cord or power strip easier. Heck, you might have a spare one in the garage, or in the kitchen drawer.

You guys are aware that the 'home' button on Wii controllers acts as the reset button, right? Just thought I'd mention it if anyone fancies using a Wii classic controller instead (or any other Wii controller).

It's a shame they didn't just include it on the NES controller somewhere.

I knew about that since yesterday, but if I'm going to get a wannabe NES that comes with a legit sized/feel original controller I'd rather the feeling keep authentic. I had one of those controllers on the Wii years ago, it's not bad, but not the same.

Fortunately, I've found a setup that works for me. I've found a space for it on my TV unit in my spare bedroom and it's just the perfect fit so that the wires reach the TV and the controller just reaches me on the bed.

I'm going to probably pick one up when the scalpers calm down. It's something that'd be nice to have as a retro gamer currently living in a university dorm!
