What is it with American Ebay shops..

Post by GagaMan »

..and ridiculous postage to the UK? I buy games from shops located in Japan all the time and the postage from there is rarely over £2.50 per item (or even less with multiple items) and arrive in no time, but whenever I hunt through American shops the postage is more like £8 for one game! Sometimes they have it so each additional item is about £2 but even still the postage is through the roof. It's a shame because there are a lot of bargains to be had on these shops but the postage is more often than not more than the game itself, which puts me right off. I take it it has something to do with flying over the Atlantic ocean?

Anyone else annoyed with this? Anyone know of any Ebay shops in the US that don't charge this kind of postage?

Worse yet, most don't even let you make offers without a US ebay account! Why say they can ship to UK but only allow buy it now? -_-

Shipping within the US has been pretty ridiculous in the past too. They are usually never good with combined shipping. It drives me nuts and seriosuly doubles the price of some things

Yeah unfortunately it is not just you. I live in the damned country, and the shipping charges usually make or break the deal with me. Depending on the item i guess. I've seen it get out of hand sometimes, looking to buy a 10 dollar game that has 15 dollar shipping.

Now that I think about it, I'm also pretty sure its just to drag people to see the lower prices of something they have, only to see that when you combine the shipping charges with the item, it costs either the same, or more than others with regular shipping charges and/or free shipping. People are such Cons.

Having games shipped to me from Japan or the UK hasn't exactly been cheap, either. I've had to pay more for shipping than the actual game in a few cases. International shipping's a bit of a pain. Also, what games are you trying to buy? I've only rarely seen shipping costs like that, and I simply moved on to a different seller with better overall prices. But I buy a lot of crap.

Just a shop that had a lot of cheap Dreamcast games, many of which are American exclusives. Had the postage of been what I can get from Japanese stores, I would be buying quite a few of these games.

Yeah, unfortunately it's not just you there have been times where I've had to pay more for shipping than the actual game. It's crazy and what is worse is it's getting harder in my area to find pawn shops, stores that sell old games outside of craigslist, ebay, etc..
