Looking at Google Earth, the big fire that is closest to me would have to take a very roundabout route to get to me because of some farmland between us and the fire. Still there is the worry that other fires will start up. Nearby Rabun county GA has some fires they suspect were started by arsonists.

Given my surroundings, you can see why I am concerned.

Got that right, on both parts. She should have never shot her mouth off. That was the equal of like the Howard Dean crazy pants YEEEEAARRRGH! cheer years ago that scared his own party to take him away from the nomination being handed to him. It was better off just not said knowing cameras are everywhere. While she meant idiots like him, the wording though as she put it out there made the basket far less defined and made a LOT of people feel like they were being talked about even if they weren't and that was like the kiss of death.

I think people were stupid about Howard Dean. All I saw with that was enthusiasm. Sure, it wasn't the most professional thing, but it was hardly offensive to anyone.

Oof, sorry about that bmoc. Hope that turns out well. We just had a wildfire close to my house as well. Is that mostly hardwood or pine around your place? If it's hardwood, it will help.

Agree on Dean. It was fun to laugh at, though. ;)

 One of the assistant principals and I are getting ready to throw down. She and I have butted heads on a regular basis for over a year, and I had my last straw today. This one girl has been just not coming to my class every day for like a month and chilling in the library instead. This AP calls me yesterday and asks if I'm okay with her continuing to do that and just coming to get her work, to which I respond "Definitely not" because that's a dumbass fucking question; I can't teach you if you're not in class. Today I get a call from the library asking if she was supposed to be there because again she went there instead of class. I say "No, she needs to be in class." About 15 minutes later, I get a call from this AP (the kid still hasn't shown up) telling me that she's in her office and to send up her work and not mark her absent. Well, that was it for me. It's one thing to pull a kid out of my class or keep her out of my class, but I expect to be told why she's being kept out of class.

I mean that's super bizarre. I can see if she has some strange learning disorder but at this point it doesn't sound like it so it's kinda unexcused. Hopefully it'll work out in the end but i know a lot of teacher that I have or have had that would have a major issue with that....

Well the lack of professionalism was the point of the comparison. Wailing like a moron and saying stupid crap that offends people are two entirely different things but they get similar results.

In keeping with the drought/wildfire conditions: http://mobile.nytimes.com/aponline/2016 ... ought.html

We're definitely praying for some rain down here. It's pretty bad.

Yeah, it's terrible. I honestly don't remember what month it was the last time I saw rain.

Gonna ignore ticked off/sad and focus only on happy:

- I filed the corrosion off my Ms Pacman fuse holders, hit them with electrical cleaner, and bent them in. My Ms Pacman is now working again, AND it got rid of the hum bar I was experiencing (aka why i was monkeying with my fuses in the first place)

- My cat has decided it's cold enough to sit on my lap again. Much happy.

- Taking a mini road trip tomorrow down to Westchester County (Yonkers area) to pick up my new Red Tent! It's gonna be a bit of a project (notably, one monitor has horizontal collapse) but I'm basically stealing the cabinet so...

So there ya go. Focus on the happy, life's gonna go well.
