This is baffling. We're really sitting on a Pandora's box scenario with a Trump presidency. What on earth will he do? What on earth are his policies? I still don't know. I don't stand to lose a lot, other than my retirement. But what about LGBTQIA, women, Muslims, people of color, or the disabled who will likely suffer from what Trump's attitude has normalized in this country?

The silent majority ended up being <40% of the electorate.

I think Blu that you have less to worry about than the screaming lying left have put up about the guy. The fact is, he is a democrat and has been for a long time. He hosted their events, best friends (until this year I imagine) with the Clintons, donated to their campaigns (prez and senate), and fell in line with their policies. Suddenly he had some awakening as a GOP member...riiight. He's a douche that's for certain, but i don't actively seeing him trying to demonize women and minorities and I don't see him going on the attack with the claws out. There may not be much for advancing various causes out of the white house as he's no progressive, but I don't see people being mocked, beaten, locked up, and the key thrown away as all the fear mongering crap the press put out there.

The concern in the end is what will he do for actual policy. The only knowns are he will right the wrongs of Obama being a fucking child each time he didn't get his way deciding to govern like a little king through executive decision as he said he'd terminate every one of them. He also said he would kill the ACA (obamacare) and replace it with something that won't cause both the middle class horrid rate increases, nor have them setup to fuck over the small businesses who can't deal well with the baggage. He's a businessman, he'll take down some of the regulations (some good, some bad) that cause businesses to run stuff out to other countries. He may throw some tariffs and penalties for businesses shipping their material and jobs overseas then laughing using it as a tax shelter not to pay up by forcing high tariffs on goods brought back here to get it that way as a punishment. He'll be tempered by Pence and also whatever cabinet the guy cooks up, how much I don't know, but I think he'll be learning on the job through someone with experience much like Obama did(with Biden.)

I honestly think it's going to be just like Brexit. It's not going to be the utopia supporters promised, and it's not going to be the Armageddon that opponents predict. Life will go on.

The difference is that Brexit hasn't actually happened yet. Nothing much as changed here yet due to the fact we have t actually left. However, the economy is tanked and the price of living has risen significantly already. In February I went to America and got $1.55 to £1. Now I get under $1.20. Once we invoke the article to leave, I fully expect the pound to fall beyond the dollar. As a country that does a lot of importing and not as much exporting, that's an awful situation to be in.

That said, a few months back, I didn't think another nation would be stupid enough to have their own 'brexit' moment. Congrats on proving me wrong America!

Not liking how a strong right wing politics of fear and hate for our neighbours has started to take over the developed world at all

America's bigoted, racist, misogynistic, small minded majority found a mouthpiece and decided to come out of hiding. Nobody can tell me that isn't regression.

Disgusting.

I've been telling my kids how there is no way a man like that could sit in office. I guess they get to learn the realities of the extent of hatred in our nation. No need to keep instilling in our younger generations how wrong that is, so we could keep progressing and becoming more enlightened, let's just fucking burn it down.

Donald. Fucking. Trump.

Yep, I've had it. Sign me up for the everything is shit club.

Karma's a bitch really. I'm all for a female president, but let's not waste it on her. It was fascinating to watch the left crumble here at the end. The stuff I saw last night, the Clinton corp seemed like they had already given up and were just "thankful" they got that far, etc. Probably too busy covering their dirty tracks recently I bet. It's so amusing how the media did a 180 within this final week and started to speak more positively about Trump. Despite telling us for an entire year that Hillary was dominating... now look who won. They wouldn't want to ruin their legitimacy and "facts" now would they? And then her case opening up again is icing on the cake, because I bet those people involved were like "whoops, if Trump gets in we might be in big trouble..." so they try to look good in the end there.

What Trump can do remains to be seen and I'm not sold on him, but Clinton played a very dirty game and good riddance.
