What was the last movie you've seen?

I've not seen all the X-Men movies, but what? This was awesome. My wife is not familiar with X-Men AT ALL. But I grew up a huge fan of their comics. So I was thrilled to see a prequel that gave background on Magneto and even showed lesser mentioned members like Banshee and Havoc. So fun.

Also I loved Logan's cameo.

The question now: Do I show her the OG trilogy next, or continue on with the new ones?

And making progress with my "watch every Amy Adams movie" list, we watched Muppets tonight. IT IS GREAT.

@Stark: Stop what you are doing. Show this to your girls. They and you will love it.

SO many LOL moments. Eighties Robot is HILARIOUS. This movie is made with so much love and is just really really fun and funny. It's like... so safe for kids. And yet, super funny for adults. But never is it like "oh this is an adult joke hidden in a kids movie." It's just funny. Trust.

I miss the "good old days" of watching Mel play a bad ass. This movie is a great example of just that. He plays the kind of hero I always root for.

He is definitely not too old for this s--t.

Probably would depend on her preference, I'd say. If she wants to be surprised by the original movies, then take a time out on the new ones and go watch the old. Days of Future Past pulls both together, including flashbacks to older movies, even if only as "future stuff Logan knows". It also bookends the story with the older characters/cast.

That said, First Class still wouldn't entirely make sense as the genesis for the original movies, and the new trilogy is it's own thing entirely. So, personally, I'd just say to stick with the new movies, and then go back to the old if/when she feels like it.
IMO, the X-Men movies are some of the most comic-book-y, in good and bad ways. Like those, reading/watching one version or story arc doesn't necessarily mean you have to go back and catch up on all the previous ones. Just keep reading/watching the one you started and like.

Well, my David Cronenberg homeruns finally came to a halt... can't say I cared for Naked Lunch at all. Certainly liked how bizarrely weird it got with the creatures and such, but I was otherwise extremely bored.

I watched Before the Flood today because it has a soundtrack by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Mogwai. In this documentary, you follow Leonardo DiCaprio as he talks with various scientists, political leaders, and technologists about the problem of climate change. He visits many of the areas of this planet where you can most clearly see the devastation already beginning to happen. It's stunning and terrifying, though there is some sense of hope in the film despite the immensity of the problem. I strongly suggest you watch this. It can be streamed for free:

As mentioned in other threads, I also just learned today that Trump's latest policy plan is to ignore the Paris agreement and block funding towards preventing global warming, so this movie feels especially relevant right now with election day coming on Tuesday.
