Really? I could of sworn in both the psx and version I played on psp that there is a defend option....I could be wrong though....

On the subject of 16/32 bit rpgs I'm still playing Tales of Phantasia slowly but surely. I could've stayed in a lot of these areas forever if I wanted to. I love the pixel art in a lot of the games in this era, especially since you really don't see that today unless it's a indie. Don't get me wrong I love 3d games but I get lost easier in them than with the vague directions in this game.
Days 4-6
Sorry Journal, haven't been keeping up. These past few days have been a whirlwind of events. Finally got the cave of spirits cleaned up of shoki for the slyph(which led us back to the tree south of Beladum). Went back to Hamel on our way to Venezzia only to see it had met the same fate as Totus of our time. After exploring a bit, we came across a girl named Lia who was the only one left behind in the tragic seen or at least that's what she told us. Ended up going back to Elucid because we couldn't help thinking about the girl we saw lovestruck back there. They ended up not meeting since he had to get back to Venezzia since he was just down there on business. We followed them him up there only to realize Nancy had followed him up there too. Ended up getting them to meet in front of the fountain only to have the father curse the union(going as far to call Nancy a slut!). Mint encouraged them to elope, and after we beat Demitel which was not easy, we found them in Alvanista. Which was halted by another minion of Dhaos before we got there Mita, who got everybody drunk and I had to fight her on my own. Apparently Dhaos of this time knows who we are and where we are. That is really scary at this point. After that we rested in the inn in Alvanista only to plan a invasion into the castle to prevent the murder of the prince. Unbeknownst to us however a bird was controlling him(Dhaos being the puppeteer on this one yet again). We defeated the manifestation of Dhaos in him only to be jailed as ones though to be trying to assassinate the prince. It all worked out though because the king was at least easy enough to accept the truth since he knew there were forces at work to get him involved in the war in midgard. After the whole ordeal we made it back to the inn to take another rest after that ordeal.

The original Sega CD version is actually quite different in several ways. Even a large plot point is apparently written out of the PSX version or something.

Well that stinks, but I'm still going to eventually beat it on psx. I can't see myself owning a sega cd at this point. By the time I finally finish college and get a true job/career I bet it'll still be out of budget XD

Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

Holy crap I love this game! I only made it through the oriteering phase but my lord that was the most interesting and diverse crowd for a team that I've seen yet. Bone just might be on to something with these Nihon falcom games...I'm going to have to find my vita though so I can continue this one on the go. Might be a nifty little cross-save feature this one has...

So, I have two different import versions of Legend of Heroes II, as well as a copy of Ao no Kiseki... but I have yet to pick up the Trails of Cold Steel games.

My only quelm is I wish it didn't look like it was so early in the ps3's life....The trees and some other things look like something straight out of ps2 era with the flat nature they have just to get the 3d effect from afar and it looks really bad when they pan past it. Otherwise it's a enchanting game, and the story along with the conflicts so far really pulls it together...

Though I swear I'm never going to get on Alisa's good side. It's apparently been two weeks since the game started and she still hates my guts. I might track her down on this first free day and see if I can mend that relationship finally. I've known some people in real life to hold a grudge but that's just harsh....

Did they ever fix the ps3 version of that game? I've contemplated playing it eventually but only if they fixed it since I recalled the moment i mentioned getting it that someone mentioned it was kinda broken save wise. I'm interested to play it one of these days but eh I'll have to track down a pc copy or wait for the switch version when it comes out...

Still chugging though Dragon Quest VII. I'm about 20hrs in and I finally unlocked vocations!

Unfortunately I'm getting really bored. The story and characters haven't really picked up, so I've just been trying to get through hoping they get better. I'm debating whether I want to continue or just drop it now, but I'm really not sure. If it picks up soon then I could continue I think, but not if that point is 20+ more hours away. Or maybe this is it and it never picks up. I have no clue :|
