Eh, admittedly the anti-Nintendo trolls do always come out of the woodwork, but some comments I have seen (found from comments on news articles and in non-gaming related forums - i.e. What the 'casuals' are saying):
new box, same old games....
Much like anything Nintendo, not my cup of tea. I think the portability could be a nice feature, but what annoys me is that they're treating the thing you interact the most with, when it comes to consoles and gaming in general, the controller, as a gimmick again. This video shows like 5 different ways to play on it. You can play with the side controllers attached to some brick that turns it into something similar to a normal gamepad, you can play with the side controllers attached to the console itself, you can detach and use the side controllers as two mini controllers (which looks like it would be uncomfortable as fuck), you can use a normal gamepad with the console, regardless if it's docked or not. I bet $5 they'll also introduce some legacy motion controllers for older Wii games. And I have a feeling portability will leave them a generation behind, yet again.
Utterly disappointed although not that surprising. I was hoping Nintendo were going to come strong with a new console. What they gave us is essentially the Wii U 2.
They haven't learned their lesson yet.
This new console screams Wii U 2.0.
It's probably going to be expensive and less powerful than a current generation console (I'm not even talking about PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio).
How about making a powerful console without any gimmick for once ? People just want to play Nintendo games with up to date graphics, that's all.
Skyrim is 4 years old now at least! Surely saying you can play that now on Nintendo is absolutely pointless
Gotta say that I wasn't interested in a Nintendo console since the N64. And Switch doesn't change that.
Unless they get Cod, fifa etc, it's gonna fail. People arent gonna buy a console that doesn't features these, without them, it's a niche console.
Zzzzzzz Nintendo are boring, may entertain the kids and mummies out there though
A less powerful console without best sellers. Sounds like a bad business idea.
Your gonna get the Mario market. But you need more than that.
New Mario and Metroid games are fun and all, but the system needs more of a splash from other avenues.
I don't know what they could put in there to make it on par with the current gen, but they definitely need to have it, because if porting is too complicated, I see many of these launch third party publishers cutting costs and not porting future titles if it means too much work.
Oh look, more Mario. Theres a shock ffs.
Personally, I have no need or want for a tablet that plays Nintendo properties, and I'd imagine a lot of casual gamers are the same.
Fifa, any sign of Fifa???
Why do they always make them look so ugly.
