Hah funny wow dude... Apple. I have seen that poke thrown around justifably so with the original Wii being a wannabe looking i-Device, and them going their own route, being quality but quiet and seeking the cool all ages group.
I can see going forward from then they really have been the Apple of the home gaming industry. They innovate but maybe not with the best hardware. They do stuff unique. You play by their rules or else too. They do crazy press bits and releases kind of like the Switch and older Wii ad spots did too.
It should be no surprise then that theyd get the Apple treatment on this too. Say almost nothing but show enough to cock tease fans, haters and the press...and then the haters get the vocal minority racket going which can be real damaging while the kingpin keeps their trap shut until the time is right.
In all fairness off topic I wish Apple was price similar to android and PC stuff. Id love nothing more than finding a way to get my old PC games I enjoy up on a iPad like device with an attached keyboard and mouse to do my dirty work...if not that something like the surface pro if it didnt have broken cancerous Win10. Im getting turned off by flaky computer parts with my laptop out for hdd failure (clusters.) My ipad, iphone and android devices dont melt down from general use.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Overall people are positive about the system. Not seeing the excessive hate other folks are.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
so how about an (older) Windows tablet then? I mean if you're that against Windows 10, couldn't you just get a Windows 7 or 8 tablet w/ keyboard dock? If you're looking to just player old PC games, then I'd think even something that'll cost you ~$100 running Win7 with a mere 1GB of RAM would do just fine.Tanooki wrote: In all fairness off topic I wish Apple was price similar to android and PC stuff. Re: NX Predictions Thread
I don't even see the problems with win10, it's better by a longshot than 8 for me. I just don't want to use my educational download of it on this computer in parallels.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Probably should not have worded in that literal sense as I do have some modern games between GoG and Steam (newest being Castlevania Mirror of Fate, Pinball Arcade, and DOOM for example plus some GoG goodies.)
It is not a bad idea though still. Im more future thinking as the laptop I am keeping, has still another 1 year plus of warranty on it too. I mean if I did get fed up it is an option, or maybe I would just deal with the loss and get an apple tablet if those can dual boot windows like their desktops.
Windows 10 is love hate with me. It has caused me problems both times I used it. Originally it would run the disk at 100% too much, and then other bugs would cause it to crawl off the initial release. This time around it got stuck doing disk 100% again for over a week or so, and eventually it ran the drive ragged and damaged it. Its like it is mainly designed for mobile devices which run off SSD/static memory storage in mobile things. It just ran my stuff into the ground so it has got to go. Windows 8.1 is great, if you dont use the UI, so I put ClassicShell on there and it is a Win7 clone.
Id be fine if a modern surface tablet could be back loaded with win8.1 even.
Bogus: I do not see it here or at neo-geo forums, but the few remaining users over at digital press love to troll the thing and anyone willing to wait until January before condemning it as garbage. Im pretty fed up with that site but I have a couple remaining users there I like to talk to. At this rate Im going to just be a prick over there until the hammer drops as Im over their childish trolling stupidity.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
I have Win10 on several non mobile devices and have not run into your problems.
You might like a Dell Venue with 8.1 though.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Well not sarcasm, happy for you, as I like how 10 works in general(spying aside which I disabled.) It has given me trouble on two laptops we have here with not one similar or related part between the two and samesame with the stupid disk run up. Heaps of people have it you google disk 100 usage yet MS wont address it or even attempt to help people fix it either. A lot of people have come up with some half baked ideas, in a few cases it works for superfetch/indexing beind disabled or some other oddball running app but for many no.
I think on a dedicated MS device like the surface which is kind of like a bastard child wannabe laptop and tablet catered right to MS needs it probably would work perfect there.

See and i love the idea of a surface especially a surface book. That really sounds like a great mobile gaming option since now the lines, at least with windows, are being blurred between tablet/laptop and rightfully so. Especially since almost everything runs on windows anyways....

Have we ever stopped and considered if Nintendo is really the problem here not the people?darsparx wrote:See but that's typical, and even more so for nintendo and apple reviews when little information is out like it is. Heck people criticize apple just based off of rumors before they even release information. It's a little sad because it'll give switch a bad taste in peoples mouths before it comes out. Which might screw big N at this point no matter how good it is...
If you follow the Nintendo console history you will clearly notice that it was the dominant videogame console so much as calling consoles "Nintendos" into what seems to be a hand-held only company with the NX(with no other competitor as it seems).
The story I know is Nintendo didn't really treat developers well with SNES, with the 64 they went with cartridge and developoers favored the CD system which made Sony's first console destroy Nintendo in sales (3x sales IIRC), with the Gamcube they went with the mini-disc while the PS2 had the advantage of DVD storage and plays DVD, lets ignore the Wii which was the odd one, and we come to the Wii U which sold 30% more than the Dreamcast.
Other than the Wii, each Nintendo console released since the SNES sold less than the previous one. Maybe its not people's criticism that is screwing Nintendo, maybe Nintendo's business choices is screwing Nintendo.
Re: NX Predictions Thread
For what it costs, a Surface Book is not really a good gaming option. Obviously, it does depend on what you want to play, but the lower spec variants have fairly little storage, and integrated GPUs (even the discrete option on the older model wasn't -that- awesome). If the point is to play GOG titles or something though, then sure, it'd do fine. My Surface Pro v1 does fine with most of that.darsparx wrote:See and i love the idea of a surface especially a surface book. They're nice machines, but it's just not what they're built to do.
Windows 10 has been fine for me too, and I've installed it on a wide variety of machines.
