I decided to try out Ridge Racer on android last night and it seemed like every single time I go in and out of various depths of the option screen, and then again before a race you get a forced video then the ad popping up after it too. Once in a while is fine, but thats downright predatory...and stupid Namco wont just let me buy non harassment.
I know you have adblock for browsers, but are there any tools for a non-hacked/not-jailbroken android (or for apple IOS) and if so any recommendations?
I dont mind subtle header footer or single pop up ads between a full game of something (like solitaire hands) in games if they are free, but enough is enough when it gets into abuse.
Blocking in game ads, Android, etc
Re: Blocking in game ads, Android, etc
Turn Off Wifi and Data
A good habit to leave both off until you actually need online to save the battery and data usage. I do this for my games and of course DENY Google Play. However, if the video ad is included with the trial game initial download then just delete it if too annoying.

Re: Blocking in game ads, Android, etc
Yeah true enough that can work and I already tried it with Ridge Racer and it worked. Seems pretty sad and annoying having to take that step which is why I was wondering if there were other means short of disabling wifi.
Had not considered the data end Ill see if I can find that. My tablet not being phone ready shouldnt need data on at all as I run wifi only.

Re: Blocking in game ads, Android, etc
All my android devices are rooted. I install a hosts file that blocks advertisers domain names. Works great.
A quick google search turns up this page - the comments talk of other methods (one just semi-regularly updates the hosts file). I wouldn't recommend any running active blocking program.
The hosts file being coppied into the right root directory and adblock plus installed in my android browser is all I've ever needed. Free games instantly turn to full versions in all that I have tried - the ads and even the blank space they took up disappear.
Then, of course, disable notifications in any games you don't want periodic advertisements popping up from.
