I was aware of that Mozgus, but Ive seen the homebrewers pull off some amazing things. Actually, depending on the price I may just buy one. My launch DS is getting to direstraights and I do have Gameboy players. Losing my Sabrewulf on the go might be a good thing

I'm gonna wait and see what homebrewers do. I love my PSP, but I dnt even use it for games really. Haha. I just use it as an mp3 player, camera, video player, and check email etc while watching tv thingy. I generally am a console gamer. And really I play all my Gameboy stuff on my Gamecube.

You guys really shouldn't put any faith into DS homebrew. It's really lackluster.

kinda. yeah. I thought DSOrganize was really pretty amazing for homebrew. But beyond that. Not much. The only video files anyone could get working were DPG's which bugged me to have to re-encode ANYTHING I wanted to watch ahead of time. At least on (an un-hacked) PSP you can (sometimes) download an mp4 right on the PSP and it'll work. (video codecs still need improvement on PSP as well, but that's another thread). But yeah, DS Homebrew offerings are rather weak. Even the emulators are just so-so.

DSOrganize is one of the few exceptions. Pretty cool set of apps in it.

What gets me is the price point. Only Nintendo is cocky enough to release another iteration of their handheld sporting a few additional features (and removal of some), at a higher price than what their current DS model sells for.

When you're making money hand-over-fist, you'd think you could throw people a bone once in a while.

The WRT54G supports ddwrt which supports vlans. Pretty slick point & click web based administration too.

Sorry but I cant go replacing the firmware of a router that 6 people in this household use. I still have no idea what a vlan is and how this would work for my DS without changing how it works for all our PCs.

I originally had a DSLite. Which had phenomenal games. But I ended up replacing it with a PSP, since PSP had far better multimedia capabilities.

Thne Nintendo announced DSi. Sounded great: awesome DS game library, 2 built in cameras, SD card, music player, web browser built in, etc.

But then the bad news: No GBA slot. The music player won't play MP3's. Absolutely no video player.

It's a letdown. And I dont think warrants anyone to upgrade. The only people that will buy this are people who have wanted any model DS, but still don't have one.

Am I alone in this thinking?
No your not alone.. I gotta agree the only people who will buy this are people who never purchased a DS or people who have the original Nintendo DS and want to upgrade to DS-i. The only other group are people who have to have every version of a Nintendo handheld..

The only reason I would upgrade would be for the added security for wireless. However I'm not even sure it supports WPA2 which is what my network runs on.

My router doesn't support vlans and I'm definitely not buying another router just for wireless on the DS that I would barely use anyway.

I really can't see the point of having the cameras on the DSi. I can barely see the point in having cameras on mobile phones. I just don't see what it can bring other than a few novelty games like on every other console that has had some sort of external cam functionality.

IF the homebrew scene some how flies off and they manage to load roms from the SD slot especially if the SD slot is SDHC compatible then I may consider getting one. However for now, I'll just stick with my R4 and DS Lite.
