Archiving to this playlist on YouTube:

Episode one is up at the time of this posting. I'm going to try to keep this going regularly, but that will mostly depend on the friend's schedule. These streams will normally air between 7:30pm and 10pm central time US.
Canceling this indefinitely. After the first few stages just couldn't get a good flow. The stream turned into one big credit feed. I will revisit the concept of streaming the game in parts later when I have had some more practice.

I purchased RE4 from that, since it's one I've meant to give a whirl due to significance. I own multiple console copies, of course

May or may not get through it, I'll have to see how the settings come together. I hated the over-the-shoulder cam when I tried to play Dead Space, but the FoV may have been too narrow as well.

generally not a fan of over-the-shoulder either. But it really does work well in RE4.

I like the over the shoulder view, but I know that's a fairly uncommon opinion. It would have been nice to have the option of switching to a more traditional Resident Evil camera perspective.

The thing I don't like about over the shoulder is that I'd rather be playing first person. Pulled back third person games give you control over the camera independent of your movement which I use to great effect. You don't really get that with over the shoulder.

Yikes, that sounds like a bad chance then. In Dead Space you can walk while aiming, you don't have that option in RE4/RE5. :P

I'll take phat tank controls over slippery overly sensitive Uncharted styled mechanics. I can't stand how those controls.

Yeah, tried to play it a couple times, and it just does not work for me. I don't like tank controls to begin with, but the over-the-shoulder style seems stuck with such a narrow PoV that it makes it uncomfortable to play (even FPS games are the same if they're stuck like that). Seems like there was a mod for it, but Capcom patched it out.

Frankly, if it did control like the Uncharted games, I could probably play it. At least those don't induce motion sickness.

Did you at least give RE4/RE5 a little time? I know I know... but really even for me I need to adjust for a bit whenever I replay them, but then it's smooth sailing. In the end I can easily see how they're not for everyone though, but definitely some of my favorite games ever.

I didn't really clarify, sorry. I was referring to trying to play RE4 on PC (I just bought that, rather than the bundle). The controls are definitely awkward, though like you said, something to acclimate to - I've done that with others, like King's Field IV or Metroid Prime, so I'm sure I could.
The viewpoint is just killing it for me though, because it basically gives me a headache to try and play. Might be something that playing farther back from the screen on a TV alleviates, since I assume that's what the FoV was designed for.
