What games have you always loved but never finished? These are games I played many times but never reached the finish line.
1. Super Mario Brothers 2
2. Metroid
3. Super Mario World
4. Earthworm Jim - This was my first release day game. I took that 11 year old birthday money to Toys R Us.
5. Castlevania Symphony of the Night - I did complete 1, 3 and IV
6. Metal Gear Solid
7. Shadow of the Colossus - part of me never wants to finish it because it's so good I don't want it to end.
8. Quake 2 - The start of my multiplayer FPS addiction... but I never finished it's singleplayer.
9. Return to Castle Wallenstein
10. Alien Isolation - not yet retro but it already has that feeling I have with SOTC.

...how...?5. Castlevania Symphony of the Night - I did complete 1, 3 and IV
I couldn't stop playing SotN. I think I've done like 5 playthroughs altogether (between PS1, PSP, and Saturn releases). Love that game, along with a several million other fans.
I never made it through Castlevania II though. One day I will swallow my pride and consult a guide to overcome the cryptic misdirection of the townspeople (the true villains of the game
Similar sentiments, but beating it is definitely not required to enjoy it (but you really should do that).3. Super Mario World
Hmm,
for me, maybe like every other RPG I have ever played. I struggle to finish those it seems.
More specifically, the original Phantasy Star and Dragon Warrior IV. Love those 8-bit RPGs to pieces, feel that they are a triumph among their peers, and yet I just couldn't stick it out to the end.
Might have to use a walkthrough or guide for those ones too.
...just another lost soul...

I wanted to finish Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as well. I just got stumped on the inverted castle. :-/
I've never completed Sonic the Hedgehog 2 either. I've made it to the end numerous times, but the last boss always kills me until all my lives are gone.

Gotten to the final boss multiple times in III, VII, VIII, X, and Tactics Adavance yet the only final fantasy I've ever finished is .....XIII

Really been meaning to go back and finish up Bioshock as well I always get about 75% through and lose interest

Baten Kaitos. I really dug the battle system, but that game really desperately needs a method to skip animations in battle, because near the end of the game, battles just take SOOOO long to happen, especially boss battles which can take upwards of an hour.

I got to the end boss for VII and VIII without actually going back and beating them as well.Fragems wrote:Basically every final fantasy game ever.

I did beat X, and XIII, and XIII-2 (and it'd be fair to say XI too).
I've started on some of the others, but haven't gotten to the end bosses in them even.
Re: Games You Want to Finish But Never Did
At this point, I've actually beaten all of my white whales. All of the RPGs I borrowed from friends are done. Many of the big name FPS and survival horrors are done too. At this point, I'm going back to titles I tried as a kid but could not figure out at the time, such as Shadow Man or Dragon Wars. I don't mean to say that I'm running out of stuff to play(I am most certainly not), but I have been seeking games to play for so long and making sure that I beat them that my focuses are having to shift. I've covered this ground many times.
Heck, even the personal challenges I set for myself regarding playing whole genres on my favorite console are getting close to wrapping up, so much so that I've actually begun holding off. I have fewer than 5 fighters and 15 RPGs to go before I've beaten every one for the NTSC-U SNES, so instead I have been mining my GOG account like mad.

Re: Games You Want to Finish But Never Did
My top five are probably:
1. Demon's Souls
2. Sonic Lost World
3. New Super Luigi U
4. Starfox Guard
5. Super Castlevania IV
For the most part, newer games are the ones that I really WANT to finish but can't. With Demon's Souls, I'm just not tuff enuff to beat that. Sonic Lost World required too much mindless and monotonous grinding to unlock the next levels, and I wasn't willing to do that. New Super Luigi U is just balls hard. The last stage on Starfox Guard is also balls hard. Super Castlevania IV is also also balls hard.
Castlevania is the one that I'm probably most able to beat if I put enough time and effort into it, but I haven't done so yet.

I would like to beat Odin Sphere someday, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Apparently, the PS3 remake is rad; so, I may give it another shot when I pick that up.
