The fourth level of Super Ghouls n Ghosts is a monsters insides. It also fits the horror theme all around

Oh man, this thread idea is amazing. Let's see some pics people!
I'm glad strangenova mentioned one of my favorites, Super Ghouls n' Ghosts fourth stage. Both sections, but moreso the second part... just what the fuck?

Someone mentioned Earthworm Jim, which has the single must disturbing level I saw as a kid. I talked about it in the evil VGM thread I made. I only saw it once or twice... perhaps literally only once as a kid, but I never forgot it. It's not in the SNES version, which is amusing to ponder if Nintendo thought it was far too nasty or something. The fish bowl effect on the camera in the stage adds to the strange factor I'd say, but the music propels it.

The final levels in Super Turrican go full on Giger Alien.

Blaster Master's final stage definitely looks fleshy and strange.

The R-Type and Salamander series seem pretty deep into this a lot of times. It's interesting that Metroid never really dove into it though, despite generally having some really elaborate and cool high tech / organic environments.
I recall like half of Grandia 2 being "Inside Valmar's X part". lol

I thought it was neat in Gears of War 2 when you get eaten by a giant worm and have to fight your way out.
