The accompanying video also shows increased spawn activity for Gastly/Haunter/Gengar, Zubat/Golbat, and Drowzee/Hypno, so be on the lookout for them! All of us should best be playing in this final week of October for extra Halloween "candy"!
Urgh, all of this shit is stupendously common around here already. This is a terrible event.
Yeah, I suppose the event wouldn't be all that exciting for people living in bigger cities. But around here, I see very few of those Pokemon, even Zubat. Round these parts, Grass and Water reign supreme. The only reason I was able to evolve and get a Colbat and Hypno (and several others, now that I think about it) was due to my trip to Denver, Colorado.
I think the extra candy idea is excellent. Especially if it means I'll be able to find more Gastly due to the increased spawn rate. According to the game I've only managed to get 9 and one of those was from a hatch.
Maybe this a sign of more seasonal events. Like, are there going to be more ice-type spawns around Christmas? That would be cool (no pun intended.)
The most common pokémon here, in order, are:
1. Pidgey
2. Rattata
3. Spearow
4. Drowzee
5. Zubat
Gastly isn't too bad I guess, although it's still one of the more common things. I find it hard to avoid infinite amounts of Drowzee as is right now though.
I'd kill for an event where more rock, ground or fire types spawn. Those are the rarest here.
And I'd kill for more grass types too. I'm a long way off of Exeggutor, Venusaur and Vileplume!
The ones I see the most around here (other than Pidgey and Rattata, you're SOL avoiding them no matter where you go) are Weedle, Caterpie, Oddish and Eevee. The other grass types show up too, but not as much.
Less frequent still, are the water types, unless you find a good spawning point near water.
I've almost never see wild fire, electric, ground or rock types around here. I found 95% of the ones I did catch in Colorado. I'm convinced Niantic has those types primarily spawning in mountainous areas. I haven't seen a Drowzee in two months. Ghosts are a crapshoot, too. They seem to show up in the most random locations.
Ill see a drowsee maybe once a month so thats a good thing, same with the ghastly thatllpop up once a week where I can take a stab at it, a little more often to show up but mysteriously never appear for an attempt which sucks. Zubat are common thought probably 1 for every 5-6 pidgey Id guess.
Im good, love to get some ghost candy as my haunter is awful, but I hae a low CP ghastly that has solid enough stats. if I could rank it or get an even nicer one Id be pleased. The multiplied candy seems like a nice touch.
I've gotten a few ghosts before, but Drowzee is very hard to find here. I found one out in the water just a few weeks ago, and another was hatched.
I've got no problems with (besides the commons) Eevee, Exeggcute, Ekans, Pinsir, and a few others. Goldeens and Staryus aren't all that difficult to find here either, nowhere near any water! Heck, 3 out of the 4 Snorlax I have were all catches at one point. I'm happy to see more Drowzee, because Hypno is a heck of a psychic type to have! I've also got a Haunter with super stats I want to see turn into a Gengar. If they're doing an event like this now, who knows what's in store for the future?

I catch pokemon on my lunch break every day. I walk for about 45 minutes and normally see about 10 drowzee. I am not looking forward to seeing more.
I also tend to see a similar number of Zubat, and a couple of Gasstly each day too.
Whatever though, double candy is still nice, here's hoping I hatch some eggs of stuff I really need during that time. A double dose of Charmander, oddish, exeggcute, machop candies from an egg could be just what I need to get some new evos.
I hit 120 yesterday - added Kadabra to my dex. Next up should be Ivysaur as I only need a few candies for that!
I get a very diverse cast of characters in my area, but a biost in ghastly appearances would be greatly appreciated. Really want to evolve him.
I am more excited about the double candy. I have tons of pokemon just waiting to be transferred. Now I just need to spend tomorrow walking up and down the river grinding magikarps. Gyrados here I come!

Don't forget we're getting *four* times the candy for walking this week, so my usual Thursday walk is going to be very nice for my Charmander, and I may also swap with Vulpix so I can get a Ninetails too.
Don't be surprised if the event begins tonight at 8PM Eastern; speculation abound that they might use 12:00AM UTC to be in line with the entire world.

Wait, 4 times the candy? I didn't see that! When was that confirmed?
I was written into the update info last time some notes about the game popped up as I saw that too. I may just switch to one of my really annoying ones so far behind like draonair or charmeleon as 3km stuff I hae that like 15 or less off is no biggie over needing like 95+.
