No doubt. This controller has supplanted the Microsoft sidewinder as my favorite emulation controller.Tanooki wrote:Youre seriously baiting me with a price like that even if I havea 360 controller as its a better nintendo dpad and button layout. Would be excellent for any 2D stuff emulation and so on.

Gamestop for +2 has a cool yellow one with a black pikachu shadow art on the face of it if you like options.

I went to Frys today and found out the Pokken Pad has the same Internet price of $14.99! No limit and only three were left on the shelf. Snagged just one since that is all I need for PC gaming.
@ Sam - Thanks for your Gamestop post making me aware of this beautiful gamepad!
The Hori Pokken Pro Pad uses the Hat Switch instead of standard analog stick. It is picked up as Joystick 2 when using Joy2Key 5.8.2 which supports the POV Hat Switch keyboard emulation. The Hori Pad is very solid built and has a clear red plastic bottom similar to a Microsoft Mouse. Think of the tight controls of the SNES pad with the comfort of handgrips of a dual shock!

On a side note, I didn't know about the Hori N64 controller until the other day thanks to Game Sack... has anyone here ever used one? It looks cool:

I have one. The Hori mini is awesome. The analog is damn near identical to the GC controller, so it is much better than the original, IMO.
Downside, they are not cheap. I paid $60 for mine and that was a couple of years ago.

It has pros and cons, in my opinion.Xeogred wrote:I didn't know about the Hori N64 controller until the other day thanks to Game Sack... has anyone here ever used one?
My biggest complaint is the L, R and Z buttons. I often see YouTube videos where people appear to be confused about what the N64 controller actually is. "Three prongs? An L and R shoulder buttons, and a Z trigger?" When you're using the two outer most prongs, the D-Pad, you're using the L shoulder button. When your left hand is on the middle prong, the joystick, the "Z trigger" becomes the L shoulder button. There's three prongs, but for all intents and purposes, there's only two prongs.
That being said, the shoulder buttons on the Hori mini pad don't work for me. There's L and R, then Z on each side.

The only other complaint I've had with the controller, which isn't something that would be a problem for everyone, is the the way the C button placement feels. If you look at the pic of the side by side comparison, the A, B and C buttons look like an identical placement and spacing. But the way your hand sits on the controller is different. This isn't a problem for me 99% of the time, but there's a rare occasion where I do something weird.
In Star Fox 64, you hold down A to charge your laser. The C buttons are used for braking, boosts, flips, turning around in all-range mode, respond to incoming messages, and changing the camera view. So what I do is use my index finger to press a C button if I don't want to forfeit my charged laser. I've been doing this pretty much since the game came out, so it's just second nature to me whenever I play it.
Anyway, the C button placement is all awkward if you try and use your index finger. I realize this might not be an issue for most people, but I thought I'd point it out.
It IS a pretty comfortable controller. The joystick is great. I wish they made a version without the D-Pad and L button, because then I feel like it would be perfect.

I don't have the Hori, but I got the Super Pad a few years ago, as I assumed I'd prefer that button layout. Nope! Turns out the original N64 controller really isn't that bad, just requires a little finesse.

I like the N64 controller, I just think the analog is trash.
