Accounts don't get deleted if they're inactive. XI started with that as a possibility, but scrapped it. The basic PlayOnline or later Square-Enix account is free, with access to the games as an optional service you can turn on or off. Short of actually deleting the accounts yourself, they'll be there if/when you feel like paying the sub fee again.

Both, at this point, have quite a lot you can do solo. DQX does too AFAIK.

Still, that general balking at an MMO is kinda common, and Dragon Quest doesn't exactly enjoy the same level of popularity here (I admit, I've never played one, mostly because of the art). So objectively, not bringing it Stateside was likely a sound business decision.

I see no real chance that the Switch will be weaker than the Wii U. It may not be leaps and bounds more powerful, but it will be at least a respectable step up in power.

I just pretend DQX doesn't exist. I've heard it's pretty crap, anyway.

Gotta say, I'm happy with what I've seen so far. The name doesn't bother me as much as it bother some others. I like the concept and I like the design. I don't really care about how powerful it is as long as the games are fun and run smoothly.

Now just tell me the launch titles, Nintendo, so I can figure out how early I can pick one up.

I knew how this would work prior other than the detached controllers with the spacer or held wii style on this. The guts on this are ARM and Tegra not shitty IBM PPC and ATI for a 4th time over.

This is NO Wii or Wii U, it was not born of the Gamecube. The imagery in the ad is false and not false in so much its thrown on there and really just to show off what the hardware concept is about for now. It is NOT weaker than the WiiU. What you have here is basically an nvidia shield tablet micro console but better, potentially to the level of the tegra2 chipset to arrive shortly. One should assume on its best or better days to do what the ps4 and one can do now, not what their moderate hardware upgrades are getting shortly so it will be weaker and non 4k on arrival, but it is no steaming pile either. Due to the ease of portability from android etc, cheaper format, cheaper and easy design efforts and porting costs, it will see much support from those who wouldnt touch the Wii and WiiU.

Notice no kids in the ad? Theyre finally being serious and targetting teens,20s and 30s aged people instead. This ad was about setting the tone, adults, mature design, utility for whateer your need being handheld or grounded.

I love it so far! Allow me to rant please..
I also noticed no kids in the ads! Curiously, I couldn't help but notice ZERO mention of anything along the lines of typical Nintendo stuff...touch screen(ds/3ds), motion control(Wii mote), or gyro-sensor(WiiU/3ds)?? (And I still can't find anyone who has referenced what looks to me like a cell phone style camera, off centered on bottom of the screen unit!)

But when I think about all this, it makes sense!!
Nintendo's first and foremost message is to communicate what the machine is; specifically the opposite of how they handled the Wii U. Done.

Next step, all the possible control options: especially since Nintendo has given us a glimpse of Splatoon (gyro-sensor controls) as well as confirmed Just Dance 2017 (motion controls), it's not too much of a stretch in my mind that if 8 different models of portables supported touch screens, as well as Wii U, and pretty much every single phone, tablet or screen in our current society.. I'm assuming this is touch compatible also.

All of this brings me to one thing: Nintendo can now properly emulate the controls/controller for every single one of its past home consoles; effectively meaning the entire history of Nintendo's software library, from the original Nes all the way to the WiiU, can now potentially sold as a download and played on a single system...
The same single system all upcoming portable and home console Nintendo titles will also be released on.

Nintendo Switch has me pretty excited.

Any one else thinks the NX is just another mid-cycle upgrade?

The portable tablet is an idea that was released with the Wii U, other than the switchable controllers, it looks like Wii U on steroids. Of course, software is where it is.

Frankly the Wii U felt more like a mid-cycle upgrade, just considering the weird time when it came out, and THIS is more like Nintendo's actual next-gen console.

Safe to say Nintendo doesn't care to conform to the norm, so they've broken off into their own gen cycle.

Not really, no, since the Wii U wasn't a portable tablet. The Gamepad is really more of a wireless display that has no real processing power itself, and the original purpose of including it was to be a second display.

The Switch itself is probably going to have new and improved models released fairly regularly though. For all the criticism of the PS4 and Xbox One being stripped down PCs, this seems to be, as has been mentioned, literally a new nVidia Shield tablet with Nintendo branding and software. They could easily wind up putting out new versions of it when newer Tegra chips come out, largely the same as the iPad upgrade cycle.
