Discord - and Racketboy?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Discord - and Racketboy?

Post by Blu »

Hi All,

Just curious if anyone uses Discord. It has combined great elements of IRC/IM conversations and voice chat. Consider it a great blend of Ventrilo and instant messaging. Those familiar with Ventrilo, you have to disconnect and then move to a new server. Discord keeps all of your "servers" as tabs on the left side of the screen. You can have a bunch of little groups and tab over to Racketboy whenever you'd like.

You can include links, etc. it exists in web, application, and phone app. I was thinking about establishing a Discord for Racketboy.

Mainly if there was a reason like gaming conferences, general discussion, or a way to communicate during Together Retro, Twitch, etc--this would be a worthwhile effort.

Wasn't sure if anyone else had familiarity with Discord. Just seeing if there could be interest.

Here's the link for our discord channel. Inviting others can be done on a link that expires in 24 hours, or one that is permanent. I've gone for the latter for now, as I don't think people will spam it up. I can change that later down the road. I can set some moderators into the channel as well, along with anything else that's useful.

Figured this would be helpful since we don't get much traffic in the IRC anymore.

I have a Slack channel I did for the same reason, not sure we need two of these, but I would switch if more people want to use this instead.
