A cute looking mish mash of the FF games all in one. Basically it looks like Kingdom Hearts to me, minus the omega fanfiction that is all the Disney elements. And hopefully no Numera melodrama either. I think it has a traditional turn based battle system.

Check it!

Maybe it's just me but there's just something about it that looks awesome haha. Hopefully it's legit.

@Bone: Yeah the Crystal Chronicles games were really cool with a good group of friends.

Sorry man, been supremely busy with work and some extra curricular(and my girlfriend's birthday...and some medical stuff involving a parent). I have needed to unwind with some FPS goodness. EotB2 will return soon though, I promise.

I'm too busy trying to learn Japanese for when my Super Famicom copies of Breath of Fire 1+2 arrive. Anyone know if this is still fun for an English speaker? I guess I'll have to make the story up as I play through them, it's often quite fun that way.
Do not repeat the tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances.

I've only played BoF II, but that game is hard enough in English on the SNES. If you literally can't read anything, not even Katakana place names, I think you're going to have a very hard time. I would recommend using a walkthrough so you at least know where to go, because especially once you get Sven, it isn't always obvious. Not to mention BoF is a game that loves not only letting you wander into areas where you'll get absolutely murdered because the enemies there are too strong for you, but the enemies you HAVE to fight are really hard as well! Grinding is an unfortunate necessity in those games.

I'm not sure I've played enough Final Fantasy to fully appreciate the game. I haven't played 2, 3, 8, 12, or 13 any real amount, and I haven't beaten 5 or 7 either (though I did get very far in them). Honestly, those Chibis all look so similar, I could barely tell them apart. There were like 3 or 4 times I thought, "Okay, that guy's Cloud, right?"

I'll wait for reviews and other Racketers' opinions before I get excited though. Perhaps I will try it in Japanese when it eventually comes out, as the English voice acting really wasn't selling me on it (especially because this is another game with Titus in it, and I've already had enough of that voice acting hell, thank you). Hopefully this isn't another case like Explorers, where it's a neat game but a genre that just really isn't for me.

After making my other thread looking for recommendations I am currently playing Phantasy Star IV, and am having a good time so far. The graphics are colorful and crisp, everything moves along at a good pace, and the story is pretty interesting so far. A couple of things that are kind of annoying though are the Technique names not really being obvious as to what they do, I had to look up a guide to figure out what most of them even did. Another is when buying stuff from the shop, unless I am missing something, I cant tell what items are better than what is equipped currently and have to exit and check my party, then go back into the shop and buy stuff.

Yeah, those are the two main problems with the Genesis Phantasy Star games. In terms of upgrades it's pretty consistent that the shop in the next town is an upgrade to the corresponding pieces of gear you already have. The magic has prefixes to indicate going up the chain, but what base stuff actually is ends up being a crapshoot. The game originally came with a guide to all that I'm fairly certain, as was the style of the time.

Original Phantasy Star had the normal spell names: heal, fire, wind, exit.

Then comes part two and it's foi, zan, gra...... These are the names still used today from what I know. Play a bunch of these games and you'll get used to it.

These days using an FAQ from on-line is just about required. Still, I ultimately enjoyed the crap out of IV even having to look up help from time to time.
