I'm all for more, but I would say 2001 ASO, Deus Ex, and System Shock's SHODAN have kind of peaked that genre and then some. Not sure how you could get any cooler than those concepts.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

I guess I'm missing out on all this new AI stuff, but yeah I'm hearing about it anywhere and everyone.

Watch Ex Machina. Best AI movie I've ever seen.Xeogred wrote:I'm all for more, but I would say 2001 ASO, Deus Ex, and System Shock's SHODAN have kind of peaked that genre and then some. Not sure how you could get any cooler than those concepts.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I could not get into Farscape. By all rights I should love the crap out of it, but Ben Browder (the lead actor) is about as interesting and compelling to me as a piece of plywood. I refer to his character as frat boy in space. And because I can't get past him, I can't get into the series.

I really liked Battlestar Galactica and will happily vouch for it. Probably 2nd only to TNG for TV sci-fi for me...
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I really liked it in theory but had trouble in practice. I watched the first miniseries and loved the quality of the acting and the attention to detail. But the show was so dark, so serious, so humorless, and so without hope that I just couldn't keep watching. I know I'm missing out on something great, but it's hard to enjoy something that so wants me to be depressed.dsheinem wrote:I really liked Battlestar Galactica and will happily vouch for it. Yeah that's probably the next main one I want to tackle. Stargate looks a little more daunting with how huge it is.

Westworld.
I've always been a fan of the original Crichton movie - I really like it. It's better in HD - you can see what was on the monochrome monitors - full green scanline detail. I tried unsuccessfully to enjoy the sequel - Futureworld. I bought the series - Beyond Westworld and tried to enjoy it - it was decent but not great.
This is different - Abernathy - best performance I've seen in recent memory. I'm happy to read that he is in the first 5 of the season.
Too many plot holes - illogical and bad story. Don't care.
I only want to watch the next episode.

Still watching Atlanta. Still loving the hell out of it. Seriously guys, it's amazing, and you should all be watching it. I find myself rooting endlessly for the main characters despite understanding that they're all born losers. I want them to win even if I don't see how they can. It's frustrating but entertaining, at times hilarious or terrifying, but always able to pull me back after repulsing me with tough realities about race, family, employment, music, and a whole slew of other topics.
