This is the exact argument I hate to see. "It's less bad than <thing that is already legal>" is not a good reason to legalize something. Alcohol, as mentioned, is far too ingrained into human culture. And cigarettes are slowly being pushed more and more into the periphery; more and more restaurants are 100% non-smoking (whether on their own or through ordinance) and in general compared to 50 years ago it seems like the amount of people smoking is much lower and dropping.
So yes, you are correct that if someone is going to be on one of those three things then marijuana is the one to be on. But why does someone have to use any of them? Now, if the statistics showed that people who used marijuana were less likely to drink, then I'd be 100% for it, because I see that as an improvement.

I'm more of the opinion that the only negative point about weed is that it is illegal. Once you are of age at least. If science can prove otherwise, then my opinion would obviously change. Time and again though, the benefits are proven and the dangers seem to be rooted in myth.
That "Cat In The Hat" could be representative of Southern CA, Dr. Seuss from San Diego.
I'm against any support for drugs as long as my booze is not touched!
Cigarette sales are down due to the Health Risks of smoking, now a Marijuana bill here in CA? Vape E-Cigarettes are already supported by the cigarette companies, no doubt that Marijuana (artificial nicotine eventually added) addiction will too. Maybe Sara Lee Cakes might back it too; imagine minors will have to carded for buying the special fudge.
I am against any tax increase including Prop 56; the two dollar hike proposal a pack. Artificial Nicotine or even enhancing natural should really be illegal.
It's about to get a lot harder for minors to vape
Since 2009, the Food and Drug Administration has been trying to regulate e-cigarettes and similar devices. 7 years later, they've succeeded. While some are hailing the regulations as a way to reduce availability of nicotine to minors, others think the FDA has gone too far.
Vape puts out a lot of vapors that some think looks cool. The cloud in a car a driving risk though.
I would like to approach the political debate from two different perspectives.
The first is an emotional and cultural perspective. This is driven by pure emotion from the things I have seen and the way people have behaved. I would also like to make it very clear that even though I see these things happening around me, my reasons for voting go far beyond that and rely much more on policies and facts. This stuff just angers me to no end.
Many of you may remember that I talk fondly of my Brother-In-Law who is turning 14 in just a few days. He goes to high school in a small country town and has taken a deep interest in politics, mostly because he is black. Now you may be thinking to yourself, "What does that have anything to do with this?" and the answer the is simple. He finds this year to be important because he has experienced racism and bullying from his peers, fueled by their parent's decisions. You see, Donald Trump is a racist and encourages others to be racists. I have watched four of his rallies from beginning to end and there is nothing but hate (and a whole lot of being late. Not a single rally started earlier than an hour and a half after his scheduled time and one was more than 2 hours late).
I also attend a college where I have seen first hand the insanity that this year's election has brought. In my economy class, someone came in and put up a bunch of american flag clings on the dry erase board and wrote, "Make America Great Again. Lock Her Up." referring to Hillary. During that same class when the topic of the debate came up, one student made wonderful comments like, "When Trump is president, girls need to either spread their legs or get the hell out." and, "I'll remember you when he gets elected," as a threat. Other great comments included, "He is going to beat that stupid cunt," and, "This is what that bitch gets for raping a 12 year old."
I would like to make it clear that neither I, nor the teacher stood for those comments. Kids were thrown out of class and those that made comments that she didn't hear or did not take place during class were addressed by me specifically. They believed that she raped a 12 year old and refused to listen to the reality of their misinformation. They are referencing a case in the 1970's where Hillary was a COURT APPOINTED lawyer to a man who claimed to have raped a 12 year old. Trump says it is on record that she was laughing at the little girl. Listen to the tapes (I have) and she scoffs that the man passed a polygraph test, stating that she will never trust a polygraph again. Regardless, they refused to believe me and continued with the idea that she physically raped a 12 year old girl.
Look at Trump. When a conservative world worries and fears that men will invade their bathrooms and that sexual deviance is eroding the American way, they turn to a man that sexually assaults them. I'm sorry, the locker room talk is bullshit. He literally said, "I tried to fuck her," about a married woman. Kissing a woman without consent is sexual assault. I see this nonsense that people spread like, "Why are you mad at what he said and still go and buy 50 shades of grey." Because, guess what!? They chose to buy it...they were consenting.
There is a madness in people. A sick, sadistic mob mentality that stirs up inside of them and makes them monsters. If a person listens to the words being said to them and believes them without question... without research and understanding... without empathy, you are a monster. If you are reading this and find offense by this, then let us talk about policies instead.
He believes that corporations are not investing in the united states, because of a variety of factors including high taxes, regulations and poor trade deals with neighboring countries. He believes that corporations should have a reduction of taxes from 35% to 15%, paying only a little over 1% what the lowest income is paying. The reality is that the global market has arrived and the United States is heavily a service industry. We don't make goods anymore because of the state we are in as a developed country. Do you honestly feel that when a corporation now pays less taxes that they will redistribute that into the economy? No. It will go into their pockets. Look at Wells Fargo and the corruption and lack of accountability there... a recent event that took advantage of the common people and the only people that truly suffered were the low level employees told to open accounts in people's names without their notification and consent in order to increase their stocks and overall worth. The woman directly responsible did not lose her job and gets to retire with a multi-million dollar retirement package.
These tax cuts proposed are estimated to be a loss of over 6 trillion dollars in tax revenue for the government.
Let's talk about NAFTA. He hates NAFTA. Guess what... we are stuck with NAFTA. If NAFTA was removed, do you feel that the car companies would just close up shop, spend the money to create an all new infrastructure here in the United States and spend the billions upon billions of dollars to create new factories all in order to avoid having to pay tarriffs for making and bringing in goods created in Mexico? No. There are so many things that are affected by the removal of NAFTA that it does not mean that all the companies will breathe a sigh of relief and come back.
The bottom line is that corporations look out after themselves and their bottom line. No tax break will reel them in when you can pay for materials and labor at an almost insignificant price overseas. You will not survive with a nationalist approach to our economy. We are in a global market and we have to do things differently.
There is more...but it's late. I'm tired...I'm annoyed. I am surrounded by crazy people that constantly tell me I'm an idiot who is voting for a rapist cunt who will start a war, not realizing that their candidate said.... and I quote, "When they circle our beautiful destroyers with their little boats and they make gestures at our people that they shouldn't be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water, OK? Believe me."
not understanding that that will start a war. He stated he would go after terrorist's families. That is a war crime. But, you know what? Hillary Clinton's Husband had sex with a woman while in the oval office (consenting) and other women claim after the fact that he raped them and it is being investigated. She is such a shitty person. Oh man....she murdered american soldiers. Hindsight is 20/20. Beefing up security could have led to more deaths. We act like it was such an easy call to make, but we see it after the fact. It was a horrible mistake and she fucked it up. She didn't want them to die, nor did she, in response say, "Somebody hits us within ISIS — you wouldn`t fight back with a nuke?" like someone else.
I'm ranting. I'm pissed. People have threatened me and threatened my family, because of this hate-mongering nonsense and it needs to stop. People are losing their fucking mind.

I feel you on this post, in many ways. There really is no sensical argument for voting for Trump (policy-wise, character-wise, etc.), and his supporters seem to be increasingly belligerent about their ignorance of well-documented facts. I can understand someone wanting to vote against Hillary, but I can't see voting for Trump as the better solution. Go write in anyone else or, perhaps, just stay home.
There's no shame in not voting for either of these clowns.
Well articulated BMF. It's down to Americans to do the right thing in this election and vote sensibly, as a Brit I'll say you should learn form our lesson; the shambles and complete surprise result we had in Britain after a racist convinced everyone through lies and slander that leaving the EU would be good for us and we would "take back the power" thanks to immigration laws forced on us by the EU, now we are suffering race hate crimes are up the economy is down.
Do not repeat the tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances.
Well, you said plenty BMF...and much nicer than I would have to be honest. I feel like I need anger management because I want to actually slap some sense into these folks putting up Trump campaign posters and bumper stickers. I'm angry too, just at different things than them. I'm angry at stupidity.
I cannot understand how any human being with a shred of decency could promote Trump at this point, or from the beginning really. I hate to give Hillary a vote, but she is the lesser of two evils. Maybe I will refrain, hard to decide.
In any case Donald Trump is every thing that is wrong with America all wrapped up in orange wrapping paper for hateful people to get their disgusting views represented while maintaining a (very thin) veil of political correctness.
tl;dr - I'm with you. I can't fucking believe this is the state of our country right now. It's disgusting.

After watching my fourth rally of his I realized how good he is at manipulating people. Think about it. He breeds hate in every form. His supporters feel hatred, but towards ethnicities and political parties and the media. The other side of the coin feels hatred directed at him and his supporters. That hate becomes irrational and crazy. I have never felt so wild and in support of violence towards anyone when watching. It isn't because they are acting like animals, there is just something with the way he talks. You just get irrational and angry.
