Finally watched the 2007 Transformers film. I have mixed feelings. I liked a lot of the human character interactions and human-only scenes. I hated most of the big robot scenes. The robots are stupidly designed, over-animated with their pointlessly long transformation sequences, and apparently clown acrobats in battle. *sigh*

The plot would have been nominally acceptable were it not for the robots completely failing to secure any emotional connection. Also, Frenzy was just obnoxious and over-played.

In summary, I think the film had good human characters and a passable plot, but lots of the filming and scene staging felt, if not amateurish, immature and inadequate. Combine that with poorly-design and badly-realized robot characters and you are left with a shit sandwich. A sandwich is a good idea, but not if you fill it with shit.

Oh man, it was just weeks ago I watched the third Bayformers and I already don't want to be reminded of it. So painful. Those Transformers designs are cancer to the eyes, god awful designs and aesthetics.

Get off the exit here and never watch the rest.

The second part of Herschell Gordon Lewis' "Blood Trilogy".

Would later inspire/be remade/be reimagined as "2001 Maniacs".

Two Thousand Maniacs is fun. 2001 is also a nice surprise.

Batman Returns is still my favorite 90's Batman movie. It feels so much more realized and stylized and Burton-y than the first. I really liked Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman personally. And always dug the gothic Christmas vibe. Fun stuff.

The casting in that one is just incredible. It's oozing with style. It'd be hard for me to pick a favorite between the first two, but I'd take either over the Nolan films any day.

Saw this earlier, looks like it has a similar feel to the first one, which is great.

Netflix's African conflicts theme continues with another excellent war film based on the never-ending conflict in the Congo. Dunno how much of this is true, except the bit about the Irish peacekeepers being snubbed their due diligence, since it usually takes a history degree to ascertain the little and/or glaring errors, but it seems solid enough.
