Hi,

I bought a new (non-sanyo) model 2 off eBay and I still can't get it to work. The chip might be faulty but that's probably more down to me getting fraustated and just trying eveything, so I'll just order a new one and try again.

I had a friend mod two saturns for me (my soldering and electrical skills are non existant). The first one was like what you show, but he eventually figured out how to get it to work w/ a little trial and error. The second one was like the one in most of the tutorial and it only took him a few minutes. They both work the same now.

I hope to get it working this time :)

I think my main problem comes from getting power to the drive. Once I insert the chip and plug in the ribbon, I never seem to be able to put the power wire in exactly the right place. The drive is either dead or spinning out of control.

I know its the 2nd pin down on that white block of 4 but what sort of contact does it need? Do I ram it down into the gap and solder on top or actually solder the wire to the pin sticking up?

RB has put a new chip in the post and I'm sure I'll get it working this time around.
