I know. But it was for a while, and it soured a lot of folks impressions of Oculus. And even Palmer Lucky's political moves aren't really anything that should involve Oculus at all. It's just this political cycle is so charged. Despite their position, I think HTC is actually in the most risky position. They kinda staked their future on the Vive and VR as they were failing to be competitive in the mobile market. They are good with manufacturing, but Oculus is tied up with Facebook, so Oculus can survive some market turbulence in a way HTC might not. In truth, Sony is in the best spot for this. But I'm planning on waiting out VR for AR.

Yeah, I find that whole brouhaha rather ridiculous. If I were to stop purchasing products based on the political views of developers being contrary to my own, I'd pretty much be without video games entirely. :(

PSVR early review sounds underwhelming: http://kotaku.com/playstation-vr-the-ko ... 1787424830

(should we just rename this thread to a more general VR discussion thread? That's sort of what it's evolved into).

Yeah, I just read that review and I am probably one more iffy article away from canceling my preorder. Maybe in time, if the issues Hamilton laid out are fixed, I'd consider picking one up then...

EDIT: Did some more reading, canceled my preorder.

I am guessing it lies between Gear and Ruft/Vive. But I like the idea of it selling well mainstream and encouraging devs to get more into VR. Hopefully it results in more games for my Rift!

wooh. All this talk about VR had me fire up House Of The Dying Sun. I had originally done the tutorial in non-VR. It looked cool. I just finished playing an hour in a half in VR. It is amazing. This game. Wow. This is exactly "The Last Starfighter" style game that I was looking for. Loving it.

now that House Of The Dying Sun is officially out, the reviews are starting to trickle. Kotaku apparently agrees with me on this one:
In addition to all the other things it does well, House of the Dying Sun also happens to be a sensational virtual reality game. It supports SteamVR, so you can play the entire game while wearing an Oculus Rift or an HTC Vive. I’ve used a Rift for a good chunk of my playtime, and Dying Sun has easily become one of my favorite VR games across any system.

so Kotaku's review of the Oculus Touch controllers say that this now makes the Rift the best VR platform available...

I'm planning to get a set after the holidays most likely.

I was in a VR-ish mood last night, so I finally gave Thumper a shot. Impressive and totally unforgiving, haha. I beat the first boss and then called it a night on that one.

Spent some time browsing the actual Oculus store for a while, which I hadn't done in a bit. There was a few free games (one was on sale for free) that I stocked up on. I don't even remember what they were haha. One looked neat though, it's some kind of PvP turn-based strategy game.

Also, I noticed that the Xbox One streaming app is already available. I don't have an Xbox One myself. Have any of you tried this? (When I say "anyone," I mean isiolia since I think he's the only other person posting here who has a Rift) Is it anything good at all, or just seeing an Xbox game on a virtual screen instead of a real screen?

Also also, has "anyone" gotten the Touch controllers yet? I'm still on the fence for now thanks to the price point.
