So I have this melee disc that I picked up on the cheap that is currently not working. Odd thing is it doesn't have any scratches, so I didn't understand what was going on until recently I decided to examine the disc and too my surprise it has DOL GALE 0-02 JPN written in the innermost part of the disc even though it has DOL GALE USA written on the top.
NONE of my gamecube discs are like this. They all say GALE USA on the top and then GALE USA on the bottom.
Anyone know why this is, and could this be a counterfeit disc?? And it looks exactly like the USA smash bros in every way except the data ring is thinner.

Re: Smash Bros Melee disc that is half USA half JPN???
I just check my copy of Melee, and I've got GALE USA on both top and bottom. That's odd for sure. I wouldn't jump straight to counterfeit - at least not until some of the more seasoned collectors here chime in - but that's definitely interesting. If there were a good game to counterfeit on the Gamecube, though, Melee would be on that list.
