Anybody else excited about The Watchmen?

I just saw the film.

It was pretentious.

Ha. I don't know if the comic book was. When I read it I don't recall it being so.

These are the two most unintentionally hilarious moments in this entire thread. In the first Moz makes a absolutely beautiful and telling Freudian slip, and the second one is uber-ironic in ways that the OP did not intend at all!

Bravo!

Saw the film this weekend. I think I actually liked it more than the book, but still not crazy about all of it.

I see the debate continues here.

I've heard that the movie drags out the sex scenes so long that around half an hour of it is sex scenes. Is that true? If so, I find that really sad, not just because those scenes were like, one panel each in the novel, but because it took away valuable time that should've been spent on the actual plot.

I just don't like how every novel has to be converted into a lesser movie form, especially a graphic novel. It was already 80% pictures! Christ!

It does dedicate a little too much time on the sex and violence. Probably about 3x more actual time than the comic did.

Your right, It is quite the debate. I havent got a chance to see it yet, but I can't wait to decide for myself. The marketing company I work for is doing a promotion for the DVD "WATCHMEN: Tales of the Black Freighter." I'm really looking forward to seeing that. It doesn't come out till Tuesday so I still have a few days to go. What has everyone heard about it so far?
