I actually just watched Robocop 2-3 last week or two as well haha. They were... surprisingly tolerable, but very forgettable. So I might rewatch the original Paul masterpice again to wash them away.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Yup, got those and Starship Troopers covered. I don't care what anyone says about Total Recall, it's legit one of my absolute favorites.

The Boy - watched this one thanks to the dood jp1. First 2/3rds feels like a creepy yet predictable possessed doll movie. Last act surprised me and I really enjoyed it. Recommended.

I Know What You Did Last Summer - I've seen multiple times. It is good, not great. But I have a soft spot for Kevin Williamson and the nostalgia + Sarah Michelle Gellar makes me like this more than I should. I remember watching KW movies in high school and feeling like "this isn't really what high schoolers are like... BUT... I kind of know some people that are kind of like this, so..." and now my memory is scrambled and the movies feel like high school to me. I love that.

Just watched Waffle Street on Netflix and found it to be amazingly good. Wasn't expecting much out of it and just turned it on to watch while I did some dishes, but ended up watching it all the way through
.
Highly recommend it for anyone who likes work place comedy/drama.

Great summation of my feelings about the movie as well. It really surprised me, especially knowing nothing going in. It was much better than I anticipated.noiseredux wrote:

Introducing my girl to more Miyazaki goodies on that big amazon bundle. A few days ago we watched Ponyo and just finished Castle in the Sky. She had seen Totoro first, then Kiki. I'm trying to remember these movies from many years ago for the bundle of what is left that would be really solid...Nausicaa? Porco Rosso? Howls Moving Castle? Spirited Away? I know Lupin and Mononoke would be a bad idea, too much blood/scary stuff.
I think the Wind Rises probably would bore her. Eventually I must find a non-ripoff priced (over msrp) copy of The Cat Returns, she loves animals.

Spirited Away is a good choice. Howls and Porco Rosso are probably good too. Arrietty is also a safe bet. Maybe even Castle in the Sky (I need to re-watch that one).Tanooki wrote:Introducing my girl to more Miyazaki goodies on that big amazon bundle. Nausicaa is, of course, excellent, but there is a bit of fighting in it and that point where–
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I'd mostly lump Nausicaa in with Princess Mononoke, so if you're waiting on that, then I'd shelve it for now. Spirited Away might be scary as well.
The Cat Returns actually kinda-sorta brings back the character from Whisper of the Heart (which tends not to be expensive), though the themes of that might not resonate with young kids as much.
