Ok...being from VA first let me say...we have a few.... also as much as i post about play n trade...i feel like now i personally am starting to beat it to death lol
Richmond VA:2
Colonial Hieghts:1
Forest Hill:1
Also we have something called " Rising Son " Neat place...they have alot of neo geo cd stuff, turbo G and CD...but pricing is really high on most the stuff.
my opinion they all suck the ONLY good one is the one near shortpump...the rest of them are just...horrible
Ill never forget when i asked a guy in CH...do you have a 3do or any neogeo stuff...i shit you not quote
"No we dont have a neo3do"
...the guys at shortpump know whats going on, matt and richard...2 great guys.
Depending on which one you went to...i will agree with you that its horrible. Again the only good one i know of...one at shortpump, always honest, always help me out, always looking out for me.
As far as getting something that is broke...ive never had a problem taking it back and letting them know. Pricing all depends store to store also. Ive gotten great deals and ive seen stuff that isnt so great, but you also have to consider that their prices change as often as prices do. If something is starting to get hot the price goes up, if its slowing down...price goes down. Atleast on retro stuff. Hell ive been given stuff free from PnT so i cant complain lol.

Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
Re: Play N Trade
I feel like I've said this about 20 times on this forum in other topics about play n trade, but they're all completely different. If all you care about is a place to pick up new games, then it probably doesn't matter where you go. If you're looking for a good selection of used games, retro games, and good employees, it'll completely depend on the store, obviously. Some places just don't get as much old stuff traded in. 2 near me usually have a lot of old stuff and one is newer so they don't have much. All 3 of those have employees who know about it. Another one had an ok selection of old stuff, and crap employees (for the most part). Guess what, that one went out of business.
As far as gamestop, they all suck. Even if they're employees were all extremely hot teenage girls who are game/bj experts, their questionable business practices and other problems would weigh it down.
If that were the case I'd still shop there though.

I just looked on the website and the closest one to me is 150 miles away. But luckily my wife's dad lives there and we go to visit him about once a month, so Im gonna have to go check it out. The only stores I have in my area is 5 (yes, 5) Gamestops 2 EB Games and 2 used record shops that stock games.
Re: Play N Trade
Well like we all say it depends on how the owner is running his business. There's 1 about 10 miles away from me and there's one about 20 miles away.
1.The one 10 miles away is a bit bigger, but the staff seem disinterested when you come in as all they seem to do is surf the internet or are playing call of duty. Their retro game stuff is hit and miss as they go by name. An example would be the Super Mario World for the SNES as 25 dollars, and Earthbound for about the same price. However they do hold tournaments which is always cool, and they do seem to know what they are talking about for the most part.
2. The one 20 miles away is a MUCH better experience however. The store may be smaller but that doesn't seem to be a problem. The staff is always friendly and they are pretty chill. Their retro stuff is priced maybe 1-5 dollars more than you would find it on ebay or amazon which ya know is reasonable and you are gonna have to pay that in shipping costs anyway. I believe they do not hold tournaments but it's all good I just wish they were closer.

Re: Play N Trade
I agree that their game prices can vary and not for the best. They had Raiden 3 for the PS2 at $30. It goes for about $15 on Ebay. The retro selection at the store near me is ok, I didn't see anything I wanted to buy though. I do wish they had their store inventory searchable from their webpage. Has anyone used their services to do any repair work on a console or cd? I was curious how that worked.
Re: Play N Trade
i've only heard of pnt on this site before. i just looked at their store finder turns out i had been driving right past one while working for the past 8 months so i'm gonna try and check it out this week. i mean how much worse than a gamestop could it be? i just bought valkrie profile 2 from gamestop for under 20 bucks(a pretty sweet deal i found out after checking ebay). i didnt really know anything about the game i had just good things about it in the forums here. well it didn't work few days later i looked up some youtube vids of it. i really wish it had worked now. i'm still pretty pissed off about it and dont think i will ever go to gamestop again. hopefully the pnt here is cool albeit a little out of the way for me now that i dont have that job anymore
Re: Play N Trade
...Here's another reason to support PNT as opposed to EB/GS.
Yesterday I was treasure hunting at an EB and I asked one of the employees if they had any PS1 games kicking around.
He smirked and said, "Sir, they haven't made PS1 games in over 10 years and you know they're up to PS3 now, right?"
I kid you not.

And here I was thinking that 1999 had been a very prolific year for the PS1.Cassidy wrote:He smirked and said, "Sir, they haven't made PS1 games in over 10 years and you know they're up to PS3 now, right?

Re: Play N Trade
Same here only this happend:
"Do you guys have any gamecubes with their original box still lying around"
"DUUUUUUDE gamecube is OLD school"
after that i figured, well PnT can preorder new games or have them in stock for the exact same price...and i might get lucky on retro...so it works for me.
